Aves

[edit]

Is there any reason the link to List of birds of India has the text "Aves" and not "Birds"? They mean the same thing and "Birds" would be more consistent with the use of common names for the other links. 155.33.172.164 (talk) 15:58, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are right about 'birds' being the common name. I shall support your suggestion. However, some animals (who are aves) are not necessarily birds. The name was kept 'aves' for a scientific reason. Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 20:13, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Usage

[edit]

I found this box used in Thiruvananthapuram Zoo. If the intent is to include this in all Indian zoo articles (they are, after all, about Wildlife), then I can go back and add them to other articles. If this is the case, we should probably make some sort of note on usage, as it's not clear to me exactly where I should use this template. Also, if this is intended for all India zoo articles (among others), I will then remove the overlapping items that are in the Zoos of India navbox that I have just added to all of the India zoo articles. I really don't suggest that this box used in every Indian zoo article since zoo pages have their own infobox. This template should be used only in the list of Indian zoos. Thats my opinion though. :) Farjad0322(talk|sign|contribs) 18:54, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you're the one that created it. I tend to agree that it clutters things a bit in the actual zoo articles, so I will remove it from the one in which I found it. I think it's in all the India zoo list articles already, but I can't speak for other lists like Botanical gardens and such. Donlammers (talk) 12:26, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Template Image

[edit]

The template is about wildlife in India, and I feel we should use an image of a wild animal from India rather than a photograph from the Oregon zoo. We probably do have some good photographs of Indian wildlife in commons. Any thoughts? Yathin S Krishnappa (talk) 17:16, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed the image to a wild tiger since there's been no activity on this thread for a few months now. (Yathin S Krishnappa (talk) 10:34, 25 November 2012 (UTC))[reply]
Support: I'm not sure why I missed the original post, but I agree that we should not be using an image from a United States zoo in a navbox about wildlife in India. I like the tiger. Don Lammers (talk) 15:50, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
