East Bengal Ultras
Hello:
The copy edit you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article East Bengal Ultras has been completed.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
If you go into Edit mode you will see I have "masked" one sentence that made no sense (appears with a yellow background). I also did the same with the block quote of the chants. There is one example in the text, I'm not sure the others are necessary. You could add the text of the chant(s) in the body of the text if you wish.
I have also "masked" the Recognition section. It's a selection of random "facts" contributors have found on the Internet. This is not encyclopedic and many/most of the mentions are not particularly noteworthy. I suggest they can be omitted or rewritten in paragraph form by the subject of the foreign media's coverage. I was able to integrate into the body of the article.
Regards,

East Bengal Ultras
Hi, I probably won't have time to take up a review right now but I'd say that there are several problems from the initial review that are still outstanding. There are sections of seemingly unsourced content (second paragraph of support, first paragraph of Growth of Ultras Culture, first paragraph of chants and slogans for example), some of the language still seems a little partisan to me on a quick read through and some other minor points. I think this would need some in-depth work between yourself and a willing nominator to reach GA status. As I say, I wouldn't have the time right now to undertake such a review unfortunately. Cheers. Vermeer
Your new template on one of the Vermeer pages appears to be based on other sites which have copied from Wikipedia, and plainly state their source here: [1]. I am not one of the editors of the material you have templated and only created the page based on a request from another editor. Since the template you are using is meant only for blatant violations perhaps you can remove it after you verify the link I provided which states that it copied the article from Wikipedia as a mirror page. If you have other clear indications of violation then let me know in order for me to trace down the editors who you state have improperly copied the material. Speedy deletion nomination of Maryna Tkachuk
Greetings, good sir. Today I noticed that an article to which I invested time and effort to set up has been "speedy deleted", courtesy of yourself. It appears you based this on a claim that, quote "This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.ukma.edu.ua/index.php/about-us/sogodennya/vybory/179-vybory/kandydaty". There are a couple of things I'd like to tell you in regards to that.
1. I hold creative rights to the material in question, in a sence that I created it by request/on behalf of the person the material is about. The placement of said material on Wikipedia as well as the mentioned site are done with consent of the person in question; it was the goal of creating it in the first place. Therefore your claim to "copyright infringement" is invalid.
2. This is NOT a "direct copy" from the mentioned website. What you mentioned is essentially a resume-style information presented. It has been used in creation of a Wikipedia article, changing and adapting it in order for it to meet the standarts of a Wikipedia article.
3. Furthermore, the text mentioned is actually a translation of the original Wikipedia article on same person in Ukrainian - https://uk.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%A2%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%87%D1%83%D0%BA_%D0%9C%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%BD%D0%B0_%D0%9B%D0%B5%D0%BE%D0%BD%D1%96%D0%B4%D1%96%D0%B2%D0%BD%D0%B0 - to which I am as well an author.
4. What amazes me is your hasty judjement and impressive ability to assume bad on people without an effort to verify things. You could spend a short while to read the article and figure out it is not what you claim a "direct copy". You could read it more and understand it contains the material that hints heavily on the consent/involvement of the person in question. You could visit the original linked article in Ukrainian and discover it is basically an adapted translation of that material. In fact, you seem to have done nothing of the mentioned. As a result, you showcased incompetence and poor judgment which only led to work going to waste and Wikipedia overall with less content than it could have been - hopefully the exact opposite to what you thrive as an editor. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flchans (talk • contribs) 00:50, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Flchans, hi I'm Barkeep49, an editor and administrator on English Wikipedia. Just wanted to let you know that ArnabSaha and I are discussing this and you will get a response soon. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 18:09, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Flchans Hello, and sorry for the late reply
Since the article was a copy from external source, it violates copyright rules. You can only copy from the websites, which have CC BY SA 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 4.0 licenses. Or you can donate the copyrighted materials. Read WP:DCP. Also, Different Wikipedias have different policies and on English Wikipedia. ❯❯❯ S A H A 15:01, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Yes, I have since engaged in discussions with JLAN and Barkeep49 on this one. I still beleive it is a case of hasty judjment when assumptions are made with little effort to actually verify things. You could leave a message at my page and if volunteers on English Wiki are so careful and proactive about copyright, you'd get your declaration soon enough. I'm just upset you people act first and think later without letting people explain and plead their case - especially in situation like this one, when you have no knowledge of the person in question, have no command of Ukrainian et cetera. This is merely stating the obvious fact and not to be viewed as an insult. It's more me being upset with how bureaucratic the enviroinment of English Wikipedia really is and how quickly people here jump to hasty assumptions not really backed by anything.
Take JLAN for example, he looked at the site and saw that the information that was used and adapted (which is fundamentally different to "unambiguous direct copy" by the way) for a Wikipedia article - he automatically assumed this is a copyright infringement. Since he found the article infringing - he automatically assumed the photograph used is infringing something as well and marked that for deletion, while he was clearly wrong and the photo has already been verified. Then he claimed the person in question is not notable enough for English Wikipedia. Now he conjured up even more absurd claim of me being paid for my edits. It's that wicked logic and assuming bad on people is what I'm upset about. Why can't you people just leave things be and only react to DMCAs and only when the claimants back their claims sufficiently? Oh well, I guess as an editor you don't get to set the rules of how English Wiki operates. Thank you for your time and your response. Flchans (talk) 15:16, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- Flchans, See, if anything goes against English wiki policy, action will be taken. You can't directly copy someting from any website, and paste it in wikipedia. And a I did leave a message in your talkpage right after it was nominated foe deletion, and you had almost 7-8 hours to challenge. ❯❯❯ S A H A 15:40, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
The text in English from the site in question is itself an adapted translation from Ukrainian Wikipedia. So technically it would be the site infringing copyright towards Wikipedia, not the other way around. I know it doesn't work like that because of Wiki's nature as free encyclopedia, but hopefully you get the idea. The problem as I see it lies in the fact that English Wikipedia operates in vacuum from Ukrainian, or indeed any other one. It's like when you produce something and want to sell your goods in different countries - you have to abide by distinct laws that exist in every of them, hard as it may be. I get your point, you were simply doing your job. Thanks once more. Since this is turning into an exercise in rhetoric, I think this is where we can put this to an end. I was already explained how can I get the materials "donated" and thus the issue resolved, and I'm on top of this. If I knew how different the enviroinment here is, I obviously would have accounted for that and the situation wouldn't have occured in the first place. Flchans (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2020 (UTC)

Your reversion of my edits on the 'Indian School Bahrain' page.
Please let me know what "disruptive edits" I made on the aforementioned page. Thank you. NightOwl66 (talk) 09:48, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- NightOwl66, Hello. the 'House' section was unsourced and unnecessary. You mentioned 2 cities, both Isa town and Riffa. Also, what was c. in infobox? Just write the exact number. ❯❯❯ S A H A 12:21, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, Hi, so the school has two campuses - which are in Isa Town and Riffa respectively. To say it is entirely situated in one of these is, obviously, misleading and wrong. 'c.' in the infobox means 'circa' as the school website mentions only "around 13,000 students" and not exactly 13,000 students. We don't know if it's more or less than that figure. Besides, you did not write the exact number either (and, as I've just said, we don't even know if it's 13000+). As for the house section, far be it from me to decide what's considered "necessary" in an article about a school, but it does shows up as a section in a lot of those. Example: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac.Robertson_Girls%27_High_School I hope that addresses it. Thanks ❯❯❯ N A H I 13:32, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- NightOwl66, Always use sources. Unsourced data will get removed most of the time. Mention that there are 2 campuses. And regarding the school strength, in the website it clearly mention total - 12445. Whenever you use any circa., try to use it like this {{circa|123}} this will show the full-form of the same, like this c. 123. If you compare with Mac.Robertson Girls' High School, you will clearly see, this article is more notable, and has a lot more info. I hope you get it. ❯❯❯ S A H A 14:42, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- ArnabSaha, Those are some really good tips. Though I should bring to your notice again that you did not give the exact number of students, and this last message of yours makes it seem like you willingly gave an incorrect figure. Howdy! I believe you have made an error and inadvertently reverted my edit to Feni District and left a mistaken warning on my talk page. I was reverting vandalism from the same IP that I see you had recently reverted vandalism from, my guess is that you saw my username last and accidentally reverted my edit and warned me instead of reverting the IP user and warning them! False positives happen, so no worries, but I would appreciate if you could be more careful in the future. As this was a false positive, would you mind removing your warning from my talk page?
