Pure class that mate, pure class. You see us Brits are soooooo eloquent ! Pedro :  Chat  09:53, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

You may have a crown, but I have the knowledge of my country's supreme contribution to world cusine. Hmmmmmm....Still we got further than you lot in the Rugby! Pedro :  Chat  09:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Nomming

Haha, sorry buddy. How does that whole nomming and co-nomming thing work, anyway? Like do you just write a co-nom statement when the RfA starts? Could you go and write a co-nom now if you still wanted? Can you even co-nom a self-nom? I really have no idea. Hit me back, will ya? :) GlassCobra 12:01, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Let It Be

I thank you very much Sir, and I will follow your instructions to the letter. Thanks again. :) --andreasegde 12:27, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

My Rfa

Thanks for voting in my Rfa, which I withdrew from yesterday. Though I did not get promoted, I see this Rfa as being a success nonetheless. What I got out of this Rfa will help me to be a better, all around editor. Because of this Rfa I have decided to become better in other areas of editing. I'm not going to just be a vandalfighter. Though vandalfighting is good, being active in all areas of editing is even better. Have a nice day.--SJP 22:38, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

GA

Hey thanks. It livened up my day, since I was expecting a lot of vandalism to my TFA, but none eventuated. On another note, I left a message at WP:AWNB. WP:AUS has grown from 59 to 74 GAs in the last two months, and if we tried harder, we might get 100 by the end of the year! Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:51, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

UK settlements

Hello H20! (I can't do the proper formatting sorry!)

Thanks ever so much for the suggestions you left regarding Oldham's peer review. As you're a evidently a regular reviewer, I just wanted to make you aware of the WP:UKCITIES standard. These were developed by the WikiProject United Kingdom Geography in partnership with WP:CITIES. They should be being used by localised British WikiProjects too for the new nominations, to ensure consistency with older nominations. I've noticed that some non-Britons aren't all too aware of these and thus might recommend a layout that is not part of the House style.

It wasn't strictly the case with yourself, of course, I just wanted to raise awareness about these if you're going to review lots more UK settlements! Thanks however for the peer review for Oldham, I'll get onto the suggestions asap! -- Jza84 · (talk) 11:42, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I (formerly Giggy) support you 110% mate...please run again some time, we need you kicking ass. Everywhere. — H2O —  09:48, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Neranei's second RfA

Excellent; I'd better watchlist that page too, thanks for the reminder. I'll be writing the nomination within the next few days. :) Acalamari 23:36, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I haven't had chance to write mine yet; I've spent most of the last few hours asleep, and it's only 9:00am here. :) Acalamari 15:59, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll be writing it in the next day or two; I've been busy today unfortunately, so I haven't had chance to write it yet. :( I should be able to do it very soon. Acalamari 00:02, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Queensland Academy

It's a high school based in Toowong, so is within the Brisbane City Council region and is under Brisbane's scope, not QLD's. If it was in Logan, Redlands or Ipswich then it would be under QLD. The exception to this applies when something applies to the whole state such as parliamentarians and the like. We've been fixing 759 instances of duplicate project membership between Brisbane and QLD (nearly all of which correctly belong only within Brisbane). Orderinchaos 00:53, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Bernie

You'd think that with WYW and SB having music videos that they would have been released as CD singles, but neither seem to have been. here's quite an extensive review of WYW. here is lastfm's wiki on fanning, but I don't think it covers anything we don't already have. here's the coverage on APRA as well; it seems he had some awards etc there that I'm not sure if we cover. here's the sputnik review, this has the release date and from what I can tell from all of them, only the third single was CD released, and that was only because of charity proceeds, otherwise it would only have been released as a digital single also. I have to run, but hopefully these sources help out the article/s. Cheers mate. --lincalinca 10:07, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

PS: Since I have to run, can you update this info to the Time on Eatrh album page 9unless it's already been done, but I haven't seen it crop up on my watchlist). --lincalinca 10:08, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

I have clarified question #5 on my RfA. Please check it to see if you wish to change your stance. OhanaUnitedTalk page 18:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

My RFA
Thanks for participating in my request for adminship, which ended with 56 supports, one oppose, and one neutral. I hope to accomplish beyond what is expected of me and work to help those that lent me their trust. east.718 at 02:30, 11/4/2007

Look what I've done!

Just look! I wonder how this goes. If it goes well, I might just go and see if I can get it to FA too. I'm going to pike out on Powderfinger stuff while I work on returning to Crowded House for the time being. I've been more than a little bit neglectful of it of late. --lincalinca 12:08, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your support! I pledge to serve both you and Jimbo Wales.

If you have anything you need, then please don't think to hesitate.

Haha, I thought this one was a little more amusing than the standard blue one. ;) So why haven't you messaged me on MSN yet, eh? Drop me a line soon! GlassCobra 01:38, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Just a note on GA passing

Even though I'm involved with the BioShock page, I do agree that for the most part the entire article was fine as a Good Article -- except for the references. I spent a good chunk this weekend making all the references to meet the proper citation templates and including the bare minimum for these as stressed by an FA reviewer. Do note that an article for GA needs to use consistent referencing either with citation method (Harvard or inline citation templates) and that the completeness of these references should be ensured at the GA level. Certainly that would have only been a speed bumb for the BioShock article - it would have been passed as a GA a day or so later once they were all cleared, but just in case you find other articles that are up for GA, make sure that the reference format is consistent and as complete as possible. --MASEM 14:27, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you bunches!

Thank you so much for suppporting my RfA. I was promoted with a total of (44/1/0) - a vote of confidence from the community that I find humbling and motivating. I will not abuse your trust. Look forward to working with you! (Esprit15d 21:31, 5 November 2007 (UTC))

If I recall correctly, you offered once to nominate me for adminship. If you are still willing to do it, I will be most willing to accept. Before you write a nomination statement, please read User:Shalom/Drafts and archives/Draft for a third RFA nomination. This is what readers will see at my RFA. I prefer not to answer the questions in the standard format.

As usual, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Nominate.

I am not in a big hurry, but at the same time, I will not delay once the nomination is in order. Please leave me a message once you have done it, or if you prefer not to do it.

List of Silverchair awards

I hope you won't mind checking out the list, would you? :) I'll be grateful if you can help. RaNdOm26 07:20, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks for the improvements! It looks nicer with the 'note' and 'citation' headings. I have 2 little points. You like to use {{reflist|2}} - what does it change to the references? On my computer screen, nothing changes. Another thing, Channel V is technically named Channel [V]. It may not look flashy on screen, but that's what the channel is called. :) RaNdOm26 10:34, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Take you up on your offer of August

Greetings again! Back in August here you made an offer to nominate me at RfA. I was on vacation & a (nasty) business trip in the interim and wanted to re-examine the XfD and other areas' policies, etc. before making this move. I've also been trying to learn the intricacies parser functions for template work and brushing up on my regex talk for my Bot. Wizardman also made the offer, but suggested that I do involve myself more in the XfD's, which I've been doing as of late. So, thoughts, suggestions, move forward? :) Hope to hear from you soon. SkierRMH 21:48, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Greetings again! I was working on putting together the basic question answers... bottom of here. Needed to double check my links! If you think they're adequate, go for it! SkierRMH 21:29, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay - lost internet connection at home & now my evil service provider & I are discussing bandwidth issues due to my bot running 24/7 :( Hopefully the issue will be resolved in the next day or so. I have accepted & put my statements, comments, etc. on the nomination page. Thanks! SkierRMH 18:43, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Extra track listing template

Hi there. I noticed the revert to {{Extra track listing}} and wondered what, exactly, was the problem. All of the versions in the time frame you mentioned seem to work fine for me, and the changes I made were as well-tested as I could make them (I didn't see anything out of the ordinary, neither in display nor HTML output). Reverting is fine, but it's nice to know the reason behind it, so it can be fixed ;) Thanks! -- Huntster T@C 04:28, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Fixing was just a matter of moving the first line of code off of the <includeonly> tag. Unfortunately, the base problem is inherent in the way the Misc field subtemplates are designed...they cannot stand alone, and thus require code from the infobox to display properly. I'm sure everything could be redesigned (personally, I think that would be fun to do), but I'm sure there would be significant resistance! Take care. -- Huntster T@C 22:52, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Nine Inch Nails at FLC (again)

Thanks so much for your comments on the previous FLC for the Nine Inch Nails discography. Unfortunately the FLC failed since I just didn't have enough time to address the issues raised, but I have since had a bit more free time, and have addressed the problems and have resubmitted the article for Featured List status. I would very much appreciate if you could give the article another look and let me know what you think on its new FLC page. Thanks! Drewcifer 05:21, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Meg and Dia has been fixed according to what you said on the talk page; could it be re-listed as a good article? :) Thanks, -- Jack 23:17, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

I was just checking that last one myself (I have Brisbane on my watch list) and was wondering if it was spam or not? The panorama picture was quite good actually. Took ages to load on my slow dial-up connection though. I'm still new around here and learning all the time. Is it best to revert when external links get too excessive? Are there any guidelines for this? Sting_au | Talk 00:22, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Comments from anon

Hello, I submitted the panorama link as I thought it was a great shot of Brisbane. I'm also the author, should I make it available under the Creative Commons license so it can be embedded within the wiki?

Yeah, if you could do that, it would be great. However, you'll need an account to upload images. You can register one at Special:Userlogin (click the "create one") link. Once this is done, you can upload via Special:Upload. Cheers, Dihydrogen Monoxide 01:23, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

RfA protocol question

Is it appropriate to respond to what I think is a false charge (no, not the number stuff) in re the bot? I did put a response here, and have been trying to work with the person that has asked for the changes... SkierRMH 01:58, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Dream Days

I know this managed to pass FA, but it still has some many issues:

  • Fanning later stated that he "was not angry about having to change his lyrics, but lamented the lack of Australian musicians willing to challenge the status quo." - Did he actually refer to himself in third person? The 2nd clause doesn't make any sense either. Also, that sentence cites an ambiguous "Sunday Times. 3 June 2007." What is the name of the article? Who wrote it? Also, the link directs to a London newspaper, did it actually make news in England?
  • The aim of the tour is to support reconciliation with Indigenous Australians. According to Fanning, "the idea is to show both bands are behind the idea of reconciliation" - Why is the exact same thing mentioned in two sentences?
     Done. Spebi 08:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • went on sale on 10 May 2007, on the band's website,[34] with tickets to the general public released a day later. - There's one comma too many and a "being" missing.
     Done. Spebi 08:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Australian pianist Lachlan Doley was enlisted to play piano and keyboard parts and on popular Australian variety show- "the" is missing in each.
  • What's "regional New South Wales"?
  • followed up or followed it up?
  • with co-headline Australian rock group Silverchair, also reformed after a three year hiatus. - This sentence a whole set of problems:
  • co-headline?
  • "reformed" as in changed for the better or "reunited"?
  • also? Who else had a three year hiatus?
  •  Done. Spebi 08:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Limited edition bonus DVD - Put the Powderfinger's First XI and The Twelfth Man headings in italics.
     Done. Spebi 08:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • a New South Wales based design and Perth based to Wales-based and Perth-based.

  • Dream Days at the Hotel Existence broke the Australian digital album sales record in its first week, as in after 1 week of its release only it sold more digital copies than any other album ever, or did it break the first week Australian digital album sales record?

  • A week after its release, the album achieved the highest first-week sales figures of any new release in 2007, with total sales of 40,847, thus making it the fastest selling album of the year in Australia, superseding Michael Buble's third album Call Me Irresponsible. - Again, split the sentences.

  • "Some versions of the release contained a selected collection of Powderfinger music videos spanning their entire career from their first single "Tail" through to the most recent single before Dream Days at the Hotel Existence; "Bless My Soul," on a bonus DVD, titled Powderfinger's First XI The music video for "Lost and Running" was also included, and was dubbed The Twelfth Man." - (trying hard to restrain harsh criticism) Why are the sentences (actually, sentence; you also forgot a full stop) so complicated?
  • Herald Sun Hit announced the album's title as Dream Days at the Hotel Existence with production by Rob Schnapf. - When? And you've already mentioned that Schnapf was producing.

  • The band used different approaches in putting the album together as "it comes back to the sound the five of us can make together", as said by singer Bernard Fanning. The sentence could be structured better; the different approac thing has already been said before; and the quote doesn't make any sense.

I guess I should have commented on the FAC, but I didn't see the article back then. Anyway, I think with these corrections and I think maybe a few more prose fixes, this article would actually be worthy of FA status. Tommy Stardust (talk) 09:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

I've applied some of the changes you have suggested. The ones I haven't paid attention to require a bit more thought, and I'm not the most concentrated person right now – I think I'll fix those a little later. Spebi 09:00, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

LOTD experiment

You voted for one of my prior proposals to institute a List of the Day Proposal. I may have already alerted you to an experiment I am conducting at WP:LOTD. Now that the experiment is running I can point out the benefits to the project of the method I am experimenting with that other alternatives don't offer. First, there is a set of orphaned articles for persons who do not have any featured lists of their own or persons that would like to take responsibility for more. Anyone can nominate such orphans. This benefits WP by getting people involved in list articles that might not have active editors to update them or defend them against vandalism. Please consider adopting one of our orphans.

There are several other advantages that will improve the project:

  1. Each list will be encouraged to respond to commentary and feedback during the candidacy period, which will hopefully improve the quality of the articles.
  2. Articles without pictures will be encouraged to find them. E.g., List of Harry Potter films cast members had no image before its nominator added an image for this experiment. This type of thing, of course, improves the project.
  3. Articles are encouraged to add relevant projects to their talk page. This alerts other project to articles that they would likely have an interest in and would be able to either improve or protect.

Again come by and consider adopting one of our orphans this month or in future months either adopt an orphan or give feedback on the candidates.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 17:19, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Dream Days...again

Sorry to be a pain but I see you're back, and well, a few of my concerns have not been addressed...

Done (see your talk page) Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  • The aim of the tour is to support reconciliation with Indigenous Australians. According to Fanning, "the idea is to show both bands are behind the idea of reconciliation" - Why is the exact same thing mentioned in two sentences?
     Done. Spebi 08:59, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Actually, now the quote abruptly introduces "reconciliation" and its quite incomprehensible.
  • Powderfinger announced the Across the Great Divide tour, a nationwide concert tour, on 12 June 2007 with Australian rock group Silverchair, who like Powderfinger, reformed after a hiatus. - Please reword this... maybe into 2 sentences.
Done Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  • What's "regional New South Wales"? - Honestly how is that different from "Powderfinger also toured in New south wales"?
Done Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  • "Some versions of the release contained a selected collection of Powderfinger music videos spanning their entire career from their first single "Tail" through to the most recent single before Dream Days at the Hotel Existence; "Bless My Soul," on a bonus DVD, titled Powderfinger's First XI The music video for "Lost and Running" was also included, and was dubbed The Twelfth Man." - Um, what? Simplify please.
Done Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
  • Herald Sun Hit announced the album's title as Dream Days at the Hotel Existence. This should "On <date>, Herald Sun Hit announced that the new album was titled Dream Days" - otherwise there is no point of that sentence.
Removed, couldn't find a date, not sure what that was doing there in the first place. Dihydrogen Monoxide 06:55, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Tommy Stardust (talk) 09:40, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Few more minor niggles:
You missed the second one (from above)... I pasted spebi's signature there because he had removed a sentence because of one of my earlier concerns and now its very ambiguous with "reconcilation" being introduced abruptly. Also, the Recording and production section doesn't read too well: "previous albums/records" is used thrice, and the word "different" five times, in that short section.
The bit in the lead about "Following the success of their previous album, Vulture Street," isn't mentioned anywhere else in the article: it should be moved to the background section. The "The band convened in late 2006 to write songs for the album, which was recorded in Los Angeles, California, in early 2007 by producer Rob Schnapf, best known for his work with Beck and The Vines" line should not be in the background section - it is meant for the production section.
Again, I'm sorry for bombarding you with complaints, but as I said, most of these should have been addressed at the FAC. Tommy Stardust (talk) 08:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Made a few changes myself [3]... I think its perfect now. Thanks for your tim e and effort Tommy Stardust (talk) 10:02, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Spiffier triple crown, new awards available

Imperial triple crown jewels.

Hi, I've been sprucing up the triple crown awards. Here's the new version of the imperial triple crown jewels you've already earned. Feel free to replace your old one with this if you like the new version better. I've also introduced two new triple crown awards for editors who've done a lot of triple crown work: the Napoleonic and Alexander the Great edition awards. If you're active in a WikiProject, check out the new offer for custom WikiProject triple crowns. I'll make those upon request if five or more editors qualify. See User:Durova/Triple crown winner's circle for more information. Thanks for your hard work, and cheers! DurovaCharge! 22:21, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

RFA thanks

One of my favorite places Dear Giggy/Archive,

Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence.
