Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Cities and towns in the war in Iraq and the Levant". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 19 July 2015.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.
Message delivered by MediationBot (talk) on behalf of the Mediation Committee. 02:58, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request for mediation rejected

The request for formal mediation concerning Cities and towns in the war in Iraq and the Levant, to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. Please direct questions relating to this request to the Chairman of the Committee, or to the mailing list. For more information on forms of dispute resolution, other than formal mediation, that are available, see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.

three villages

the Pro-Government source clearly states that the YPG has asked Jabha Al-Shamiyah to evacuate the villages of Ibina,Anab,Maryamayn, which indictaes that Jabha Shamiyah controls them, can you please self-revert.Alhanuty (talk) 19:04, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

apologies, after studying the source I initially failed to find the relevant information. I have self-reverted. However how accurate is this source? The presence of rebel forces non-aligned with the YPG within the Afrin Canton appears suspicious to me. Pro-YPG maps, such as Cizire Canton, would refute this. CC today reported that Nusra launched an attack on YPG forces in Maryamayn which would contradict the pro-SAA source: https://twitter.com/CizireCanton/status/627086203599388672.Prohibited Area (talk) 19:16, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

a newspaper is more reliable than a twitter source,but the clashes happened there.Alhanuty (talk) 19:24, 31 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

… was based on copying this map and was reverted. If you read the comments to the map, you will see that Leith Abou Fadel (editor of Al-Masdar) and another user are telling the map maker that Jubb Al Ahmar is gov-held. Therefore, it is likely that our map was correct and you made it wrong by copying from an online map. Please do not copy from online maps anymore. Banak: this is an example of what I was telling you about… Tradediatalk 04:32, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tradedia I just was about to update the .png map, should I hold off on this for the minute? Banak (talk) 04:41, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Banak: I think you can go ahead with the update if you like. Tradediatalk 05:09, 4 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Tall SyriaTel

Hi! There where earlier articles from AL-Masdar about the capture of Tall SyriaTel. Thats why the article you referred to as "(Rohanny source doesn't mention capture of Tall SyriaTel, instead I have indicated SAA presence)" where not clear on the matter. The article before that one was however clear: here

"Meanwhile, the SAA’s 67th Brigade has steadily advanced in west Palmyra, despite ISIS’ repeated attempts to reverse their gains at the groves of Al-Bayarat; this usually works against the terrorist group, as the Syrian Armed Forces capitalized on their failures by taking full control of Tal SyriaTel."

Please self-revert your three latest edit as I´m only entitled to revert one of them and in that case it will only look messy. Rhocagil (talk) 16:10, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you; I will amend edits using provided sourceProhibited Area (talk) 16:16, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sinai insurgency map created

I've created this Sinai insurgency map module. I've also added an initial information on it, so you can mark the map by searching internet sources (cities, presence, bases, etc.). Thank you! :) --SMB99thx XD 11:48, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SMB99thx OK thank you, I will look into it. I am just finishing off the Afghan template in the coming days which has preoccupied me recently.Prohibited Area (talk) 12:55, 11 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Khatuniyah

I think we edited Al-Khatuniyah to yellow at the same time and now it´s stuck "black" !!!? Rhocagil (talk) 16:42, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rhocagil (talk) Sometimes the map lags during edits plus I have noticed there are like 4 Khatuniyah towns on the map so idk which is the correct one to edit. When the map catches up to the edits we should be able to see which one we were meant to have edited yellow.Prohibited Area (talk) 16:44, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well your edit is the same as mine, anyway now it´s yellow on the map.Rhocagil (talk) 16:51, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

SCW & ISIL general sanctions notification

Please read this notification carefully:
A community decision has authorised the use of general sanctions for pages related to the Syrian Civil War and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to these topics that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behaviour, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. An editor can only be sanctioned after he or she has been made aware that general sanctions are in effect. This notification is meant to inform you that sanctions are authorised in these topic areas, which you have been editing. It is only effective if it is logged here. Before continuing to edit pages in these topic areas, please familiarise yourself with the general sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.
