From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Review Desk Review Coordination A-class review Article assessment

The Review Department of WikiProject History hosts its A-class review program here. A-class articles are expected to meet the majority of featured article criteria. Each article should be reviewed initially by one volunteer who is a member of a History-related WikiProject. Upon the conclusion of the initial review, other members of the community may voice their opinions on whether the article should pass or fail. For the Review Manager or one of his delegates to pass an article, there must be no less than three support votes listed.

The History Review Department and its A-class review program will review articles within the scope of other history-related WikiProjects. However, please do not place military history articles here. WikiProject Military History has its own A-class review program.

A-class criteria

[edit]

The Review Department's A-class criteria are modeled after those used by the Military History WikiProject's similar program.

  • Requirement A. The article is consistently referenced using an appropriate citation style. Sources are reliable, and there is no evidence of original research. Sources should represent more than adequately the material that they reference.
  • Requirement B. The article is written using a neutral point of view. It is detailed when necessary but remains focused on the topic in question; all viewpoints are represented equally, and certainty of this is found in the article's sources.
  • Requirement C. The article includes appropriate hiearchical headings and a lead statement of optimal length.
  • Requirement D. The article uses clear prose recognized as acceptable with the guidance of Wikipedia's Manual of Style.
  • Requirement E. The article uses images and other visual media appropriately and in accordance with Wikipedia policy. There should be no copyright problems with any visuals included in the article, and it is suggested that they meet the criteria necessary for the article to pass a featured article review.

A-class reviewer criteria

[edit]

An A-class reviewer must be:

  • A member of either WikiProject History or a History-related WikiProject (see the list of WikiProject History's child projects).
  • An editor not currently blocked from editing on Wikipedia.
  • Neither the review manager nor one of his delegates, except when investigating a request for a Requirement F Waiver.

Instructions

[edit]

To nominate an article within our scope for A-Class status simply replace PAGENAME in the box below with the name of the article (Place 2 or a higher number after the name for each consecutive nomination) and click Nominate. Adjust the page that appears accordingly and transclude the page into the "Current nominations" section, below, using {{Wikipedia:WikiProject History/Review/A-Class review/PAGENAME}}, replacing pagename accordingly.

Finally, add A-Class=current to the project banner on the article talk page

Current nominations

[edit]

I am nominating this article on behalf of Marcofran. I passed it for GA about a month ago, and I feel that may be ready to meet the "new" History criteria I put in temporarily. DCI traveling Talk 21:20, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
