Thanks for the catch on the Active MLB players who have played entire career for only one team article. Somehow, despite the article title, I read that section heading as longest tenured players in general. Appreciate you setting it straight. Woodshed 04:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Greenfield CIMG0321.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Greenfield CIMG0321.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:12, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

IAH photos

[edit]

Wikipedia:How to improve image quality:

[edit]
  1. "When we include images in Wikipedia, it is nice when they look good. When they do, an article appears more professional and is more pleasant to read. When they look amateurish, the article looks amateurish.

Here are some things that should be kept in mind when uploading images.

  • Make sure the white balance is correct or fix it afterwards.
  • Correct the brightness/contrast if it's needed (use a 'levels' dialogue or equivalent for this, however, as the equivalent brightness/contrast command will often introduce further problems to the image).
  • If there is excessive image noise (from a scan or low light), try using a noise removal program such as Neat Image [1].
  • Select the optimal image resolution for Wikipedia. If people might need this image in hi-res, upload a better version. If the image is bigger than 100Kbytes you may need to upload it to Commons.
  • Check that it's not very blurred and that there are no visible JPEG compression artifacts. If there are, try reducing the image size.
  • Make sure the perspective is correct or fix it afterwards.
  • Check the composition of the photo. Crop the image to remove useless or irrelevant parts of it.

You can use most image editing software such as the free GIMP to do this manually. Many programs also have facilities for semi-automatic image enhancement (Ulead PhotoImpact 10 [3] is good), so that you only need to mindlessly click on thumbnails until you find a modification that improves the quality.

If you are inexperienced and can't improve the quality of an image, but you clearly see that the image needs improvements, upload it anyway and then ask anyone for assistance on Village Pump, Requested pictures, on this article talk page or elsewhere.

Notability of Glen Perkins

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Glen Perkins, by Tecmobowl, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Glen Perkins seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Glen Perkins, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Glen Perkins itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 07:32, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mansfieldhawks.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Mansfieldhawks.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:50, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem

Hi Nick81aku!
We thank you for uploading Image:Fritz Nagy CIMG7260.JPG, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Unless you can help by adding a copyright tag, it may be deleted by an Administrator. If you know this information, then we urge you to add a copyright tag to the image description page. We apologize for this, but all images must confirm to policy on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Nick81aku! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 708 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Greenfield CIMG0321.JPG.

This image is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such images would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a screenshot of a computer game or movie. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original image must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the image description page states the source and copyright status of the derivative work, it only names the creator of the original work without specifying the status of their copyright over the work.

Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the original image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other derivative works, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thanks again for your cooperation. plicit 02:55, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
