Birnam is a rural locality in the Toowoomba Region, Queensland, Australia.[2] In the 2021 census, Birnam had a population of 63 people.[1]

Geography

Birnam is situated north of Toowoomba, 9.8 kilometres (6 mi) from the central business district.[3]

History

The area is named after a railway station in the area, which was named after the village of Birnam in Scotland.[2]

Demographics

In the 2016 census, Birnam had a population of 65 people.[4]

In the 2021 census, Birnam had a population of 63 people.[1]

Education

There are no schools in Birnam. The nearest government primary schools are Gowrie State School in neighbouring Gowrie Junction to the west and Highfields State School in neighbouring Highfields to the north-west. The nearest government secondary schools are Toowoomba State High School in Mount Lofty, Toowoomba, to the south-east, Highfields Secondary State College in Highfields, and Wilsonton State High School in Wilsonton Heights to the south.[5]
