Welcome

[edit]

You already know that this is the talk page of an elite group of Wikipedians and Wikimedians. I would like to propose that this category be one that can only be added to a user page if the user can demonstrate their sense of humor by posting something here on the talk page of the category that might prove that they have this attribute. This also includes those with a humorous username.

Let the fun begin

[edit]

Ok, Barbara (WVS) I'll do what we're not supposed to...I'll byte. I hereby submit my resumé for induction into the Halls of "Wikipedians with a sense of humor" Category, beginning with this page. Two pieces of my "art" have been written in the anals annals of SmithEEngnian history and are on display in the Museum; titles are "How To Avoid The Pricks" (co-authored with EEng who customized it a bit), and "Smile don't croak" which was created in response to all the complaints about the length of EEng's...TP, "the only man-made talk page that can be seen from space." From that came a caption contest I held for an image of a "natural phenomena", and Eman235 won that prize hands up. Of course, I can't forget the request MjolnirPants fulfilled when I asked him to make the following user box for my page:

PffTThis user is a Doctor of Everything.
(All their work has been doctored.)

Did I pass? Nope, I'm still alive. Atsme📞📧 15:59, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're in. Let me double check with Richie. Did you feel any muscle contractions at the corners of your mouth? If so, was contraction strong enough to pull the corners up...or down? Well it doesn't really matter a little twitch is good enough for me. In the meantime, I'll read the works referenced above. You're in trouble if you haven't filled in every parameter required. They don't make those templates for the faint-hearted.

The corners of my mouth went up so high, it was like having an exaggerated facelift, and for a brief moment, I had a goat patch on my chin.😂 Atsme📞📧 20:09, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I know you like horses, right? Do you also have goats? Barbara (WVS)   14:27, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Barbara (WVS), here is another example of humor by Eman235. Atsme📞📧 11:04, 29 July 2017 (UTC) Atsme[reply]

So ... was I too serious? ☆ Bri (talk) 22:17, 23 August 2017 (UTC) Bri[reply]

wow

[edit]

Our numbers have exploded and we now stand united at a firm 13...of course. So how many editors are subscribed to the Signpost? four or five. Out of the approximately 1000 page views, we got two more members in our category. That is slightly creepy.

If any of you would like to express your jolliness in a constructive way, please feel to contribute or work on a humorous article for the Signpost. I believe in the five pillars, good faith and attribution. So just in a couple of edits *BAM!* you got yourself a byline. Happens only on WP. Here is where you go. I'm all in favor of having as many bylines as possible because even that would be funny humorous. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   09:38, 16 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

On the verge of revolution

[edit]

Our numbers are growing. I don't know yet if this is good or bad for the encyclopedia at this time. I would invite all category members to put on their thinking caps and come up with plans for April 1st. This is our holy day. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS)   14:27, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Darn, I missed this. Maybe 2019? ☆ Bri (talk) 20:50, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

G'day anyone! This is just to welcome me to this category.

I'm actually a very serious person. In any of the mathematics departments in which I've studied, all I have to do is walk down a corridor and someone will say "Here comes Alder. This is serious."

But I'm working on it. To quote peter Ellis (awesome head of the Instrumentation and Control section of the AAEC "Lose your sense of humour and you start to worry about things that don't really matter. And that ain't funny." So I'm sure Wikipedia would benefit if i ever managed to develop a sense of humour. I'd stop slyly nagging people who misspell "humour" for a start. (As Enry Iggins often says, "In America, they haven't used it for years". Which is a reliable source, surely. Lots of gits going for it. Haven't checked the page stats I admit. But that's a bit of a rant so I'll continue. Someday. Maybe. Whatever.) Andrewa (talk) 15:15, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
