David McLean Walters (born Cleveland, Ohio April 4, 1917) is a US lawyer who served as Presidential envoy to the Vatican.
He studied law and got his JD from University of Miami Law School in 1950. He practiced law in the private sector from 1950 to 1977.[1] On July 6, 1977, he was appointed by President Carter as his envoy to the Vatican, a position he held until August 1978.[2] On June 25, 1985, he was appointed by President Reagan as member of the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Commission.[3]
