A. M. Gopalan is a South Indian businessman,[1] film producer and actor hailing from Vadakara, Kerala, India. He is the founder and chairman of the Gokulam Group of Companies, which has diverse industries including hospitality, healthcare, education, healthcare and entertainment. He started his mini chit fund business in Chennai, as his first venture. in [1968]][2] which made him a millionaire in a decade and with the money he made from the business he became a serial entrepreneur with interests in hospitality, healthcare, education, film production, logistics and manufacturing.[3] His empire is mainly spread in the states of Kerala and Tamil nadu. Hhe also has a chain of medical centres in United Arab Emirates. [4] He has also acted in few films. [5]
Biography
[edit]Born in 1944 in Kurikkilad, Vadakara, Kerala to Chathu and Mathu 23 July 1944 in an ordinary Ezhava family,he had a very ordinary early life. He holds a BSc degree in mathematics from the University of Kerala. He moved to Chennai in search of a job and worked in various roles While he was looking for a job in Chennai, a doctor offered him a job as a medical representative. However, the financial side was bad. He thought that the program that his father and many others in the country used to do was not present in Chennai and he planned to start it gathering some capitals from friends and relatives and it would soon became a success. It was the chit fund industry. he then married his wife Jalaja. He had 3 Children Lijisha, Baiju Gopalan and Shabareesh out of which Shabareesh died in a car accident in Angamaly<refhttps://www.oneindia.com/2008/06/07/prominent-kerala-businessmans-son-dies-in-mishap-1212852931.html</ref>
