Aliapoulios or Aliapoulos or Alliapoulos (Greek: Αλιαπούλιος) is a Greek surname. Notable people with the surname include:
- Dr. Menelaos A. Aliapoulios (Greek: Μενέλαος Α. Αλιαπούλιος;), American-Born Greek surgeon (surgical oncologist) and was awarded the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine "Distinguished Medical Alumnus Award" in 2011 [1], gave lectures [2] and published in many medical journals in breast and colon cancer, and part of the team that discovered thyrocalcitonin, a previously unknown hormone.[3][4][2][5][6][7][8][9][10] Menelaos was Chief of Surgery at Cambridge Hospital[11] and St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts [12], taught surgery at Harvard Medical School[13][14] and University of Massachusetts Medical School[12] and visiting Professor in Russia, Kenya and the Shanghai First Medical College in China.[15] He was the President of the Boston Surgical Society [16]. He served as a Navy Lieutenant during the Korean War aboard the USS Wisconsin.[17]
- Lt. William "Bill" George Aliapoulos (Greek: Βασίλειος Γ. Αλιαπούλιος; 1917 USA-2008 USA), American-born Greek engineer, Lieutenant, Platoon Leader in the 3rd Platoon in the Ghost Army[18][19] in World War II[20][21] and awarded the Bronze Star of Valor for service during Operation Brittany.[22] (page 284) as mentioned in the book Ghosts of the ETO - American Tactical Deception Units in the European Theatre 1944-1945 and pictured on (page 29). written by Jonathan Gawne.[23] Their operation was mentioned in the documentary, The Ghost Army directed by Rick Beyer.[24] William was mentioned in the The Boston Globe for rescuing two children from their cribs in a tenement fire in Manchester, New Hampshire in 1939.[25] William was a student at the University of New Hampshire and University of Toledo.[26]
