Annabelle Yates (born 17 July 2007) is an Australian football (soccer) player who plays as a full-back / winger (number 29) with Melbourne Victory FC (A-League Women).

Early life and career

Raised in Yackandandah in regional Victoria, Yates started her junior career at Twin City Wanderers FC in Wodonga before moving to Murray United FC in the National Premier League's Victoria Junior Boys competition in 2018 where she played for four years until 2021.[1]

Yates represented Victoria in the under-12 School Sports Australia championships in August 2019.[2][3]

In 2022 Yates relocated to Melbourne to play with NTC Victoria in NPLW Victoria under-17 Junior Girls competition, and represented Victoria in the under-16 Football Australia National Youth Championships in September 2022 in Coffs Harbour where the team finished runners up.[citation needed]

Yates captained the Football Victoria U15 Futsal Squad who won the 2023 Football Australia National Futsal Championships.[citation needed]

Career

Yates made her NPLW senior debut for FV Emerging in 2023 and made 19 appearances in her first senior season.[4] She is contracted to FV Emerging for the 2024 NPLW season.

International career

Yates made her debut for Australia's under-17s in June 2023 in a friendly match against South Korea under-17s in Seoul and played two matches in AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup qualifications in Hanoi in September 2023.[5]

Personal life

Yates resides in Melbourne and has a younger brother, Luca, who plays for Melbourne City FC junior academy.[citation needed]
