Biography

[edit]

Bogdan Dullsky was born on November 10, 1971, in the Soviet Union. From a young age, Dullsky began experimenting with sound, using Soviet microphones and reel-to-reel tape recorders to capture and manipulate field recordings and voices. His early experiments with musique concrète allowed him to create complex audio collages by cutting, splicing, and recombining magnetic tape. These early works laid the foundation for his lifelong interest in sound manipulation.

In the 1990s, Dullsky worked at the Theatre of Drama and Comedy in Tiraspol, where he was exposed to more advanced sound equipment and techniques. There, he experimented with sound design for theatre productions, creating audio collages for stage performances using analog equipment. During this period, Dullsky collaborated closely with his friend, Alexander Kirnitsky, a prominent Soviet composer and conductor. In the mid-1990s, Dullsky lived and worked at the studio of the famous Soviet rock band Kruiz, where he had access to high-end equipment and musical instruments of the time. This experience allowed him to refine his production techniques and further explore the blending of traditional and experimental sound.

In addition to his experimental music career, Dullsky worked in radio broadcasting and produced several audiobooks. His time in radio further honed his sound editing and production skills, while his involvement in audiobook creation allowed him to explore sound storytelling.

Dullsky’s career continued to evolve as he integrated visual elements into his performances, blending sound with video art in various international festivals and exhibitions. He is now based in Finland, where he actively participates in the local and international art scene.

Together, they worked on several projects that explored complex sound manipulation and audio-visual integration.

Released through Entity Records, this album merges processed instrumentals, field recordings, and synthetic ambient sounds. The collaboration also features cello improvisations and noise elements that form an extensive 72-minute piece.[3]
