"Bom Bom", generally titled "Bum Bum" and alternatively known as "Shake Your Bum" or "Shake Your Bum Bum" is a song by Nigerian artist Timaya. It was released on 20 January 2012, alongside "Club On Fire".[1] Both singles were the first and second singles off Timaya's fifth studio album Upgrade (2012). The song was produced by Nigerian record producer Young D and written by Timaya.[2] The music video for "Bom Bom" was released on 10 September 2012 and directed by Clarence Peters.[3] The song was used in the soundtrack in the third season of television drama show, "MTV Shuga". Bum Bum, characterized by its catchy beats and energetic vibe, quickly became popular and is widely recognized in the Afropop and Afrobeats genres. It has a length of 3 minutes and 38 seconds and was released under Dem Mama Records (now called DM Records).

Background and release

"Bom Bom" was released on 20 January 2012, as the second single of Timaya's fifth studio album, Upgrade, which marked a significant point in his music career. The album showcased Timaya's versatility and growth as an artist, blending traditional Nigerian music with contemporary electronic sounds, in songs like "Illuminati" and "Sexy Ladies". The song "Bom Bom" was inspired by the dancehall music scene and aimed to create a vibrant and danceable track that would appeal to both Nigerian and international audiences. Timaya collaborated with producer Young D to create the song's infectious beat and catchy hook. The lyrics of "Bom Bom" are playful and focus on the admiration of women's buttocks and their dancing skills. The song's upbeat tempo and explicit celebration of physical attributes made it a favorite in clubs and parties across Nigeria and beyond.

On 10 July 2015, blog Nigerian Entertainment Today announced that, according to Nigerian digital media app Spinlet, the music video for the remix of "Bom Bom" featuring Sean Paul was Nigeria's fourth most-viewed video.[4]

The music video for "Bom Bom" was released on 10 September 2012 and was directed by Clarence Peters. It features a lot of twerking and erotic dancing, which captures the essence of the song.

Bom Bom is a song by by Nigerian artist Timaya. The remix features soca artist Machel Montano and released on 4 March 2014, officially titled "Shake Yuh Bum Bum (Soca Remix)". "Shake Yuh Bum Bum (Soca Remix)" was placed on Montano's nineteenth studio album, "Happiest Man Alive" (2014) and was officially titled "Shake Yuh Bum Bum (Soca Remix)".[5] The second remix features dancehall artist Sean Paul This remix is more popular, and was released on 10 April 2014, along with the music video. The Seam Paul remix was placed on Timaya's sixth studio album, "Epiphany" (2014).[6]
