Carlos L. Garrido is a Cuban American graduate student and philosophy assistant at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. His research areas include Marxism, Hegel, and early 19th-century American socialism. His scholarly work has been published in journals such as Critical Sociology, The Journal of American Socialist Studies, and Peace, Land, and Bread. Carlos is also collaborating with various editors from The Journal of American Socialist Studies on a serial anthology of American socialism. His theoretical and political writings have been featured in Monthly Review Online, CovertAction Magazine, The International Magazine, The Marx-Engels Institute of Peru, Countercurrents, Janata Weekly, and Hampton Institute. He is a co-founder and editorial board member of Midwestern Marx. As a political analyst specializing in Latin America, particularly Cuba, Carlos has been interviewed by Russia Today and has participated in numerous radio interviews in the U.S. and internationally.
