Emmitt Duane Weekly is an American actor who starred in La Jolla Commons Theatre production of The Duck Variations (2016), appeared in Patio Playhouse productions of Foxfire (1992), The Devil's Disciple (1993), The Skin of Our Teeth (1994), and was an ensemble cast member in the film Skin: The Movie (2018).[1][2]

Personal life

[edit]

Weekly was born to Robert and Freeda Woodward[3][4] in Lewiston, Idaho. He attended Fresno High School[1][2] and joined the Coast guard for four years before a friend challenged him to take on acting.[2] He majored in theater arts at Southwestern College, performing in plays such as Macbeth and Wurzel-Flummery.[2]

A year after acting in the play Last of the Red Hot Lovers, he married the production's stage manager, Susy. Weekly moved to Coronado, California in 1997.[2]

Career

[edit]

Weekly acted in the films Misdirection and Skin: The Movie.[2][5] In 2016, he starred in a production of The Duck Variations at La Jolla Commons Theatre,[2] and in 2022, as a retired widower in the world premiere of Red Jasper at Lamplighters Community Theatre.[6]

1992–1994: Patio Playhouse

[edit]

In a review for Foxfire, William Fark at The Californian said "Weekly plays mean guitar and switches singing styles for dramatic effect."[7] For The Devil's Disciple, Fark said Weekly's "abrupt change from pulpit manners to guerrilla planning is overdone but funny."[8] Fark complimented his directing in Life with Mother, stating he "moves the many performers well; blends a variety of acting styles convincingly."[9] In The Skin of Our Teeth, Fark said Weekly's "discomfiture while listening to his wife's convention speech is real."[10]
