Hannah (Ayscough) Smith (1623_bef.1679) was Sir Isaac Newton's mother, who was an English scientist and mathematician. She married twice; first to a prosperous farmer named Isaac Newton in 1642, and second to a well-to-do rector named Barnabas Smith in 1646. She had a son named Isaac Newton from her first marriage, and three children including Mary, Benjamin and Hannah Smith from her second marriage. She died before January 4th in 1679 at the age of 56 in Colsterworth, Lincolnshire, England.[1]
