Microsoft Tech Clubs (Tunisia)

[edit]

Microsoft Tech Clubs (MTC) in Tunisia are student-led organizations focused on promoting technical education, innovation, and collaboration among students, particularly with an emphasis on Microsoft technologies. These clubs are part of a global initiative aimed at empowering students to develop technical skills, engage in collaborative projects, and prepare for careers in technology.

History

[edit]

The origins of Microsoft Tech Clubs in Tunisia trace back to the Institut Supérieur des Études Technologiques de Sfax (ISET Sfax), where the first student club was established before October 1, 2010, under the name ".NET Club." This club was dedicated to students interested in learning and working with Microsoft's .NET framework.

In 2012, the official name "Microsoft Tech Club" first appeared at the Institut Supérieur d'Informatique et de Multimédia de Sfax (ISIM Sfax). This rebranding marked a significant moment in the club's history, as it expanded its focus to include a broader range of Microsoft technologies and fostered a community dedicated to technical excellence and innovation.

Following the establishment at ISIM Sfax, the concept of Microsoft Tech Clubs began to spread across Tunisia, particularly in higher education institutions.

In 2016, Microsoft Tech Clubs made a significant expansion by establishing a chapter at Lycée Pilote Sfax (LPS), marking the club's first introduction to the high school level. This expansion was met with enthusiasm, leading to rapid growth in membership and activities.

Expansion and Growth

[edit]

The introduction of Microsoft Tech Clubs to high schools in Sfax proved transformative. By 2021/2022, the number of MTC chapters in Sfax high schools had doubled, reaching six active clubs. This growth continued, and by the following year, the number of clubs doubled again, bringing the total to twelve.

To coordinate the activities of these rapidly growing high school clubs, a unified organization called MTC HSSC (Microsoft Tech Club High Schools of Sfax Community) was formed. MTC HSSC serves as an umbrella organization that facilitates collaboration, resource sharing, and the planning of joint activities among the various high school clubs in the region.

In 2023, MTC HSSC launched its official website, establishing a digital platform for communication, collaboration, and the promotion of club activities.
