Early Life

Nehat Bellçishta, the son of Sali and Jumnije Bellçishta, was one of the most prominent figures in the education system of Dibra e Madhe and a dedicated educator who left an indelible mark on the lives of many generations of Albanian students. Born and raised in Dibra e Madhe, Bellçishta displayed an early passion for education, becoming one of the youngest teachers in the history of Albanian education. At just 17 years old, he began teaching in Vrapçishtë, Gostivar. With unwavering dedication, he contributed to the spread of education and the eradication of illiteracy among the Albanian population in Macedonia.

Education and Upbringing

After completing his studies in Tirana, Skopje, and later at the University of Belgrade, where he graduated in Albanology, Bellçishta became a key figure in the establishment and activities of the "Përpjekja" Association. This association promoted Albanian cultural and national values in the former Yugoslavia. Through this organization, he and his collaborators organized cultural events aimed at strengthening national identity and raising national awareness among Albanian students.

In the field of education, Bellçishta played a pivotal role in the opening of the "28 Nëntori" Gymnasium in Dibra, where he worked for many years as a professor of Albanian language and literature. His commitment extended beyond teaching, as he also imparted human and national values to his students. He was a man with an open and generous spirit, always striving to offer the best for his students and community.

Bellçishta was not only a diligent teacher but also a respected figure in society. He continuously faced the political challenges of the time but never wavered from his educational mission. His dedication was also reflected in his efforts to improve education in Dibra e Madhe and provide students with opportunities to succeed in life.

Over the years, Bellçishta remained a beloved and respected figure, not only for the students who had the privilege of being taught by him but also for the entire Dibra community. Life as a Professor

One of the most significant achievements in Nehat's career was his work as a professor at the “28 Nëntori” Gymnasium (Zeravko Cockovski) in Dibra. During this period, he became one of the most respected teachers at the school, teaching various subjects such as Albanian language, literature, history, and Latin. Even though he sometimes had to teach outside his area of specialization, he always demonstrated excellent preparation and a great dedication to teaching.

Another important aspect of his career was his contribution to the opening and development of new schools in Dibra and its surrounding areas. He was among the first to contribute to the establishment of the “28 Nëntori” Gymnasium, working voluntarily alongside other renowned professors of the time, such as Bardhyl Cami and Muhamet Paçuku.

Role in Society and Cultural Heritage

In all the positions and roles he held throughout his career, Nehat Bellçishta remained a model of dedication and integrity. He was recognized and respected not only for his professional skills but also for the high human values he instilled in all those around him.

Retirement

In the final years of his career, Nehat Bellçishta continued teaching at the “28 Nëntori” Gymnasium in Dibra, leaving behind a rich legacy. Even as he approached retirement, he never ceased contributing to the education of new generations, always remaining a beloved and respected figure in his community.

In an interview with the newspaper “Flaka e Vëllazërimit,” he expressed his love and dedication to the teaching profession, stating that there is nothing more beautiful and humane than this profession. For him, teaching was more than a job—it was a lifelong mission that he fulfilled with love and devotion for nearly five decades.

Nehat's career spanned 47 years.
