We are not interested im references that mention Glavan as actor, director, etc. We are interested in references which are about Glavan, about his methods, critiquing him, perhaps. We do not dispute the simple facts that he has directed (etc) a load of stuff, we need to know what is said about him in WP:RSI'm sorry this simple review has taken so long, and I accept that you must feel frustrated to have it pushed back to be worked on again.Reading WP:REFB may help you. Nenad Glavan (born 1977, Split) is theatre and film director, digital multimedia artist, performing arts researcher and producer.
Career
[edit]Glavan is the alumn of the Sapienza University of Rome, where he graduated film directing at Performing Arts and Sciences. Afterwards he obtained a master's degree in digital directing at Knowledges and Techniques of Theatre, Cinema and Digital Performance, and later attended a doctorate in Digital Technologies and Methodologies of Performing Arts Research at the same university. Meanwhile, he collaborated intensively with Centro Teatro Ateneo - a roman performance research centre, where he acknowledged important pedagogical, technological and anthropological approaches. As an intern at the Teatro dell ‘Opera di Roma, he was assistant director in Aida,[1] Lucia di Lammermoor,[2] and Madama Butterfly. He was also assistant director in the opera productions at the Croatian National Theatre in Split in Norma[3], Aida[4], Luisa Miller[5] and The Translation of St. Dommnio[6], as well a multimedia artist for various drama and event productions (Istrian National Theatre in Pula, Croatian National Theatre in Split, National Art Centre in Podgorica etc). In 2006 he made his debut as director, producer and set designer on the national stage with the multimedia choreodrama The Pine Wind[7] (Z. Motokiyo, cor. Moe Yamamoto) at Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka as Japanese-Croatian coproduction.
He continues directing operas, including multimedia and sets design for: The Telephone and The Medium (G. C. Menotti)[8] as the first afterwar Croatian-Serbian theatre coproduction between Opera&Theatre Madlenianum in Belgrade and Opera BB in Zagreb, The Rape of Lucretia,[9] co-produced by Croatian National Theatre in Split, Fundación Cultural Artemus in Madrid and Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste. Afterward, he directed and staged the opera Andrea Chénier[10] at Ivan Zajc Croatia National Theatre in Rijeka and the operetta Die Bajadere (I. Kálmán)[11] at Croatian National Theatre, Osijek. In the production of his own Art Organization SKOP, founded in 2009, from 2014 till 2019 he directed and staged “The Trilogy of Democracy: Discount, Banquet and Death” [12]extensively interweaving classical and contemporary dramas with elements of physical, dance and post-dramatic theatre questioning the weak points of social order, from consumerism through populism and extremism to "staged" democratic procedure. Innovative digital technology played an important role in this trilogy stagings: 1)Troia's Discount (S. Ricci and G. Forte, based on Virgil's Aeneid)[13] in collaboration with Culture Factory, ZKM Zagreb and the Piccolo Teatro Milan, 2) Table d'Hôte (S.Turunen, A. Hut Kono and E. Aldrovandi, based on Petronius' Trimalchion's Dinner)[14] in collaboration with Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb, TINFO Helsinki and ZipZone Rome, 3) The Death of Socrates (D. Lukić, based on Plato's Republic and Aristophanes' Clouds)[15] in collaboration with the Culture Center Travno and KNAP.
In 2019, Glavan staged and directed the play Stalker/Prikradatelj[16] (Gianni Forte[17], based on the novel by brothers Strugacki) at &TD Theatre. His further performance research continues with radio-video drama Allarmi (E.Aldrovandi) discussing European culturalism, coproduction of Museum of Contemporary Art and Skop Zagreb. In 2022/23 he is co-author with E. Agnesa of cross-media open structure project Mindpolis 1.0[18], inspired by the travelogue Million by M. Polo at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. From 2020 he is assistant professor of Digital Directing, Montage of scenes, Film Editing and Performance Production at DAMS[19] - Link Campus University in Rome. Since 2021, he has served as program manager of New Media at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Zagreb.[20]
He is also author of several short films, documentaries, art video installations, art and commercial films and events, publicity and musical videos. He worked also as a TV and radio editor, journalist and curator of different events and exhibitions.
Awards and nominations
[edit]Glavan was awarded for his first short film “From the Dark” with the third prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2000 for the directors under 25 and with the first jury prize at the Croatian Film and Video Revue Festival. At the European competition for young opera directors in Wiesbaden he was a finalist with Rusalka by A. Dvořák. His staging of Troia’s Discount was the finalist performance at IKS Festival[21] in Split.
