OUTsurance DAC Ireland is a subsidiary of OUTsurance Holdings, an international insurance company with a presence in South Africa and Australia. The Irish subsidiary, based in Dublin, provides insurance products, including car and home insurance.[1] OUTsurance Ireland was established in early 2024, marking the OUTsurance Group's expansion into the Irish market.[2] It is headquartered in Cherrywood Business Park, Dublin,[3] and is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.

History

[edit]

OUTsurance DAC Ireland was established in 2024 as part of OUTsurance Holdings Limited's strategy to expand its services beyond Africa.[4] OUTsurance, founded in 1998 in South Africa, is known for its unique approach to insurance, offering cash rewards for remaining claim-free, which has been well-received in various markets. The Irish subsidiary was created to bring this innovative approach to the Irish market[5] becoming the first new insurer in the Irish market in over a decade.[6]

Services

[edit]

OUTsurance DAC Ireland provides a range of insurance products,[7] including:

  • Car Insurance: Offering comprehensive, third-party fire and theft, and third-party only coverage.
  • Home Insurance: Covering buildings and contents insurance, with additional options for accidental damage and personal possessions.

Market Position

[edit]

Since its inception, OUTsurance DAC Ireland has aimed to drive competition in the insurance sector by challenging accepted market norms[8] with a unique product offering, providing competitive pricing and adopting a customer-first approach.

In June 2024 the company launched its first marketing campaign, 'Insurance Therapy' which revolves around the understanding of consumers' one-sided relationship with insurance and a perceived lack of fairness. The ads bring this to life in a humorous way through the lens of a couple at a counselling session in order to prompt consumers to consider switching their insurance to a better alternative.[9]

In August 2024 the it was announced that they had signed a long terms agreement with Newstalk and Off the Ball as the sponsor of all sports news bulletins, broadcast on Newstalk.[10]

Corporate Governance

[edit]

OUTsurance DAC Ireland operates under the regulations of the Central Bank of Ireland[11] and adheres to strict governance and compliance standards. The company is committed to maintaining high ethical standards and ensuring transparency in all its operations.
