Peter Ekman (born in 1962) is an international CEO focusing on the wine industry. He is best known as the turnaround CEO with more than two decades of expertise in revitalizing great businesses.

Early life

Ekman is a native of Skövde, Sweden. He graduated from Skaraborgs Regemente P4, Swedish Military in 1982, and received a Finance & Economics degree from the University of Örebro, Sweden in 1987. He is fluent in Swedish, English, and Norwegian.

Career

Ekman began his professional career with Procter & Gamble, inc. (1987-1995). He was recruited by Möet Hennessey in 1997 to address their underperforming US winery & vineyard operations and brands. In 2001, he was hired by Wine.com following their Chapter 11 filing. Combining intellectual property from www.wine.com with www.evineyards.com, he put the company back on a path to profitability.

Ekman’s reputation for driving growth and transforming businesses landed him with companies such as Bounty Hunter Wine & Spirits, Cosentino Wineries, and Crushpad. He also co-founded and was Vice President of Ascentia Wine Estates. In 2013 he joined Vivino as Chief Business Development Officer and was instrumental in building their business model. They are now the largest global online wine marketplace with more than 64 million active users.

Ekman is currently CEO at Spring Mountain Vineyard, one of the largest estates in Napa Valley, owned by MGG Investment Group.
