Maureen James Ochigbo Ajogwu (born September 30, 1996)[1] is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and performer known professionally by her stage name Rap Goddess.[2] She includes both English and Nigerian Pidgin in her rap music. Rap Goddess began singing, freestyling, and playing instruments at a young age.[3]

Early life and education

Rap Goddess was born in Niagara County, Mapletown, New York, to Nigerian parents from Benue State, Mr. James Ochigbo Ajogwu and Mrs. Rose Agbo.[2] She studied English and Linguistics at the University of Port Harcourt.

Music career

Rap Goddess started her music career in 2009 when she used to sing and perform as a gospel singer. In 2011, she transitioned towards rapping and composing.[1][4] She has released many songs, but her latest music release is the album Big Motion.[5] She is the founder of RG Records; she has organized and hosted shows and events, including her yearly Easter Rap Fiesta.[4]

Awards

Rap Goddess has received several awards and recognitions throughout her career. In 2023, at the Fashion Signatory Awards, she won the award for Best Female Rapper in Nigeria and was also recognized for her contributions to music and style.[4]
