In an interview by Radio 1 Future Artists, when asked about the inspiration behind 'Remember it', Echopecker said "The song is about returning to a familiar place that was erased from your memory - where buried memories resurface of every time you've been there in the past; and eventually, you forget again, only to rediscover the place and repeat the cycle."

In another interview by Clash magazine, when asked what the song means to them, Echopecker said "For me specifically, 'Remember It' is best summed up by the middle verse of 'A Great Wagon' by Rumi. Specifically the line 'Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.' However, my song is not inspired by Rumi's poem; as I wrote the concept of the song before ever reading the poem, it was inspired by a memory of being in the 'field' then running away from it. Only to find myself there again later and have memories flooding back. I wanted to try and catch the feeling into music."
