The Sterling Siren Fire Alarm Co is a defunct Civil Defense Siren manufacturer that went out of business in 1972. It is a historical company in the American Civil Defense Siren industry.[1]
History
[edit]Sterling Siren Fire Alarm Co was founded in 1902 by Frank W. Browning, B.F. Leavitt, H.C. Williamson. Their new company would make sirens for emergency vehicles, emergency lighting and Civil Defense Sirens. They made Fire Sirens for cities in case of a forest fire. [citation needed] In the 20's, Sterling was a major manufacturer. They are known for great quality. Most Model M's are still standing today, over about 100 years later.
Their successor, Sentry Siren, has carried on the durability with all of their sirens, lasting 40+ plus years according to Sentry Siren's Website.[2]
Siren Purposes
[edit]According to the website, Sterling produced sirens for air raids, basic weather alerts, and fires.
