The Hunts.[1] are an American indie-alternative folk band formed in Chesapeake, Virginia[2][3]. The band is made up of seven brothers and sisters: Josh, Johnathan, Jenni, Jordan, Justin, Jamison, and Jessi Hunt[3]. Different members sing and play numerous instruments such as mandolin, piano, ukulele, banjo, drums, guitar, and fiddle[2][3]. They have released two full-length albums and several singles throughout their active period from 2007 to present[2]. The Hunts are Christians who create art about who they are and what they believe[4]

History

[edit]

2007-2015: Beginnings, Life was Simple, and Those Younger Days

[edit]

After formation in 2007, the Hunts traveled the country to play in various venues, community centers, and music festivals to garner recognition and share their craft[5]. Some notable appearances were at the Landmark Music Festival in 2015, Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2014 and 2015, and Firefly Music Festival in 2015[5][6][7]. After signing with Cherrytree Records and Interscope Records, the band released their first EP, Life was Simple, on August 19, 2014 containing "Make this Leap," "Remember Us," and "Lifting the Sea"[3]. The band released their debut album including the previously released songs and more, Those Younger Days, on June 9, 2015.

2016-2018: Darlin' Oh Darlin'

[edit]

Shortly after releasing Those Younger Days, The Hunts went on tour to promote their debut album, as well as touring with and opening shows for various bands, such as Of A Revolution and fellow Chesapeake natives the Last Bison[8]. Following the single "Along the Way," the band released Darlin' Oh Darlin' on February 20, 2018.

2019-present: Future anticipated album

[edit]

Following the release of Darlin' Oh Darlin', The Hunts released "Life is Good" a year later on June 28, 2019. In the years to come, they have released seven more singles, with the most recent being "Always" released on June 21, 2024[9]
