Draft:Tsarevich Ilya Fyodorovich

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tsarevich Ilya Fyodorovich was the only child and heir of Tsar Feodor III of Russia, born on July 11, 1681, in Moscow. His parents were Tsar Feodor III and his first wife, Agafya Simeonovna Grushetskaya. Tragically, Ilya's life was cut short when he died just ten days after his birth, on July 21, 1681. His mother also faced a similar fate, passing away three days after giving birth on July 14, 1681. The death of Ilya left Tsar Feodor III without an heir, which ultimately led to a succession crisis following Feodor's own death in 1682. Ilya is interred in the Cathedral of the Archangel in the Moscow Kremlin. His brief existence had significant implications for the Russian monarchy, as it resulted in his brothers Ivan V and Peter I (later known as Peter the Great) becoming co-tsars after their father's demise.
