Spider-Man: King in Black

[edit]

Should the rumoured title of the film be mentioned? MarvelMovieFan (talk) 17:43, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:RUMORS, unverifiable rumors and speculation are not permitted on Wikipedia. Also, you didn't need to post this same question twice on two closely related articles. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:41, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Holland's "different" comment

[edit]

Starting a topic regarding this revision by @Adamstom.97. You said, "This comment doesn't say anything of the sort," and you're 100% right, it doesn't directly say that, but I didn't claim that it did. I said it could potentially be of note given the speculation surrounding the film, which was also discussed in the source I provided. But I see now I didn't make myself clear enough. I'll explain my reasoning, and if you still disagree, I'll respect that and move on.

Recently there's been rampant speculation that this film could carry multiversal elements, which has been widely reported by reliable sources. Some examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Some outlets even directly asked Andrew Garfield and Tom Hardy about these reports. I should clarify, I'm not saying that these reports should be mentioned in the article. They can't be, since they trace back to unreliable sources, however, that doesn't change the fact that they have repeatedly received wide coverage from reliable sources, making them an inherent part of the film's conversation. And since the previous film dealt with the multiverse, Holland's words could mean that this one won't, rendering his comment potentially of note. Other sources are also now reporting on his remarks with similar comments: 1 However, the actor has revealed that Spider-Man 4's plot is different from what the MCU has done with the character, so a straightforward multiverse event with the three Spider-Men looks unlikely. We shouldn't include something just because it potentially contradicts unreliable rumours, and I'm not convinced that he said all that much. "The idea is crazy. It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before". That could mean that the film is based on a crazy idea that differentiates the film from the previous ones, but it could also mean that the film is "a little different" and he is saying that's crazy out of excitement/hyperbole/PR speak. Interested to hear how others interpreted it. - adamstom97 (talk) 21:02, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Holland's comments are really a non-update and quite too ambiguous for us to know if they have any merit or not. It does not matter what the rumors out there are because Holland did not address them at all. Plus, it has been said before for other MCU entries that they would be different. It has become loaded language and does not actually add anything encyclopedic to the article. Of course an involved party is going to try to tee up their next project, it is just too subjective and ambiguous of a statement to include. As for the rumors, because they have been mentioned, we don't mention WP:RUMORS as they are unverifiable and not relevant to what Holland said, as that could be taken in any way you want. The rationale to retain his cagey comment because it could relate to theories on the story reads too close to WP:OR for me to be comfortable with letting it slide. Spider-Man: Brand New Day

[edit]

Should the title of the movie (Brand New Day) be added or mentioned in the article? MarvelMovieFan (talk) 09:27, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Source that this is the title? - adamstom97 (talk) 10:52, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That source says it is a rumour. Production Weekly usually only reports on working titles as well. - adamstom97 (talk) 13:53, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
