The clip is used to illustrate "Where Do We Go From Here?" in the only musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The episode begins with a representation of false confidence in "If We're Together", and the musical theatre format allows the characters to express their deepest emotions. The clip shows the characters coming together from all directions, holding hands, then flinging them away in a piece of what Joss Whedon calls "literal choreography". The costumes of the characters are complementary among the couples and each of the eight character wears a color in the visible spectrum. The song, movements, and costumes have been noted by scholars to represent the relation of each individual character to the group. "Where Do We Go From Here?" segues into the rest of the season.
