Green Bones is an upcoming Philippine western drama film produced by GMA Pictures and GMA Public Affairs. It is directed by Zig Dulay[2] from a written story and screenplay by JC Rubio and Ricky Lee and Anj Atienza. The film stars Dennis Trillo and Sofia Pablo.[3]

The film is set to be released theatrically on December 25, 2024 as an official entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival in its 50th year.[4]

The film is about a soon-to-be released criminal and a corrections officer still grieving over the death of his sister opposing the prisoner's release.[5]

In July 15, 2024, GMA Pictures released a Facebook post of a teaser poster of their entry to the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.[6] The film is known as Green Bones, which will be directed by Zig Dulay,[2] who previously directed the film Firefly that won the Best Picture award in the previous year.[7] Green Bones is just one of the first five entries for the film festival.[8]

Moreover, the screenplay is written by national artist Ricky Lee and GMA Public Affairs Assistant Vice President Anj Atienza, while the story is written by JC Rubio.

The film is currently in development.

Release

Green Bones is set to premiere on December 25, 2024, at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.[4] GMA Pictures signed a distribution deal with American film company Columbia Pictures (through Sony Pictures Releasing International label) to distribute the film.[1]
