Inchmagrannachan (/ɪnmɑːɡrænəxən/), is a hamlet in the Strathtay area of Highland Perthshire, Scotland,[1] 3km north-west of Dunkeld. The River Tay passes the hamlet to the east.[2]

The hamlet is surrounded by woodland and hills. The forest to the north is called Dalmarnock Wood.[3] The short Littleton Burn passes through the hamlet from west to east before shortly flowing into the Tay, splitting the village in half - north and south. Almost all the houses are located the north side and the access to the static caravan park and farm buildings on the south side.

The main row of houses, on the west side of the main road are on a lane set back from the through road, with a grass verge and hedgerow. The east side of the hamlet is flat farmland and fields.

Facilities

[edit]

There is a postbox located at the north end of the hamlet, just back from the B898.[4]

Dunkeld Holiday Cottages[5] operates in Inchmagrannachan, with holiday let cottages, attracting tourists to the area. There is also a caravan site on the west side of the hamlet.[6]

Transport

[edit]

The B898 is the main road through Inchmagrannachan and connects from the A9 to the south and to Dalguise and Balnaguard to the north. The hamlet is served by the number 60 bus,[7] operated by Stagecoach Strathtay. The service runs school days during term-time, and twice a day only on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school holidays.[8]

The Highland Main Line passes to the east of the hamlet, however the nearest train station is Dunkeld & Birnam.
