To resolve phab:T346857, all oversight-only reasons should be moved to MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown-suppress. That'll make them to only show for the oversighters. – Ammarpad (talk) 08:59, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Ammarpad: I have done this but suppressing is not the same as deleting, and are you sure the other reasons don't just appear when suppressing an edit? Will they also appear to oversighters when deleting a page? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:10, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@MSGJ, Technically suppression is just a checkbox on deletion interface, shown to oversighters only. When an oversighter goes to Special:Delete/X, it's impossible to know whether they're there for suppression or deletion. Therefore both category of reasons will be shown.
So the simple thing is, anybody who can access Special:Delete/X, they'll only be shown content of MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown. If the user is additionally oversighter, they'll be shown content of MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown-suppress (in addition to MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown which is by virture of having access to the page). – Ammarpad (talk) 09:39, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I've marked this as resolved, but I have also asked the oversight team to check that those reasons are still visible to them — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 10:08, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
