Tô Văn Vũ (born 20 October 1993) is a Vietnamese professional footballer who plays as a right winger or right-back for V.League 1 club Thép Xanh Nam Định.

Career

Tô Văn Vũ was born in Quảng Xương District, Thanh Hóa.[1][2] After finishing high school, Tô Văn Vũ and his mother, Mrs. Cao Thị Tuyết, moved to Đồng Nai to live and work.[3][4][5]

At the age of 20, Tô Văn Vũ was invited by a friend to try out for the U-21 Đồng Nai team due to a shortage of players for the national U-21 championship.[6] After one week of trials, he was signed and officially began his football career at the age of 20[7]. In 2014, despite the difficulties faced by the Đồng Nai club following a match-fixing scandal involving several players, Tô Văn Vũ decided to stay and train with the youth team.[6]

The 2016 V.League 2 season was Tô Văn Vũ's first professional season. He regularly started and scored 2 goals[6]. However, Đồng Nai failed to secure promotion after losing to Nam Định in the play-off matches.

After the dissolution of Đồng Nai club, Tô Văn Vũ followed coach Trần Bình Sự to Becamex Bình Dương.[8] There, he played in V.League 1. In February 2022, Park Hang-seo called up Văn Vũ to the Vietnam national team to prepare for the match against China in the third round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.[9][10] At the end of 2022, Tô Văn Vũ left Becamex Bình Dương after six years with the club.[11] During his time at Becamex Bình Dương, he made a total of 106 appearances and scored 8 goals in V.League 1.

On January 4, 2023, the Cong An Ha Noi FC announced that they had successfully recruited player Tô Văn Vũ.[12][13][14][15] By October 9, 2023, Thép Xanh Nam Định Football Club announced that they had signed a three-season contract with Tô Văn Vũ[16], starting from the second phase of V.League 1 2023, during which he played on loan.
