T.C. Kalyani Amma
T.C. Kalyani Amma (28 November 1879 – 26 October 1956) was a writer and editor who made a unique mark in the field of journalism and literature. Kalyani Amma was the first women editor and publisher in Malayalam.[1]
Lifeline
[edit]Kalyani Amma was born in Thrissur Thekekurupam as the daughter of T.C. Ammu, a Sanskrit scholar. Kalyani Amma studied up to matriculation, and in 1896 she have married to a writer, T.K. Krishna Menon. Kalyani Amma was notable in the field of children's literature and translation. She was active in public speaking[2] and became the editor of a women's magazine called Sharda. Aesop's Fables was first introduced to Malayalam by Kalyani Amma.[3]
