Dating

My understanding is that the droughts began much earlier, in the late 1920s. Is there a possibility these dates are wrong? Viriditas (talk) 21:12, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the article itself says "not enough rain fell over the areas in question in the period between 1930 and 1941". Viriditas (talk) 21:13, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Various books and papers indicate that the drought started in 1929, including The Great Depression 1929-1939 by Pierre Berton (2012). Apparently, the media of the time might be partly responsible for this confusion, as the news reports insisted that the drought of 1929 was unusual and unlikely to continue.
