Grammar and style

[edit]

47thPennVols, per our edits here and similar ones elsewhere, the were no grammar errors in the article prior to your first edit on May 21. You changed some of the wording by swapping "the team" for "Penn", but either are acceptable, and both are singular nouns, so I can't see where there was a grammar error. The bigger issue here is your introduction of a "History" section. That edit removed key facts about the subject from the lead section of the article, facts that belong in the lead even if and when the article is developed into a more complete article, like say 1997 Michigan Wolverines football team. A "history" section doesn't make much sense for articles like this one, which are about a single season. There may be references to prior and later seasons, but generally all the content in this article will be about this one season. It's all "history". Prior to your edit, the lead section was not very well-formed. Toll Booth Willie created a lot of articles like this one for Ivy League football programs and some other Northeastern private schools like Bucknell, Lehigh, and Lafayette. While he did a great job with sourcing the schedule tables, the way he wrote the lead sections was strangely ordered and a bit "line-prosey" with many short paragraphs. My latest edit made this all a lot cleaner. Let me know if you have any thoughts. Thanks, Jweiss11 (talk) 04:38, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
