How long were the three men in Canada? Were they citizens? Listing their hometowns as major Canadian cities gave me that impression (rightly? wrongly?) and seemed surprising. Sherurcij (speaker for the dead) 13:39, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I copied that info just the way it was. Looks like they were naturalized Canadians, born in Syria. So far I've found only this article which calls them "locals": The Globe and Mail (Canada)

Montreal's Armenian community surprised but proud

MONTREAL (CP)

Shock and pride dominated conversations in Montreal's close-knit Armenian community yesterday as two local men were charged with murdering a security guard in Tuesday's assault on the Turkish Embassy in Ottawa. 'We are surprised but proud,' said a beaming Kezork Koussaogli, surrounded by nodding fellow Armenians from the garage where both of the accused men once worked.

Ohannes Noubarian, 30, of north-end Montreal, and Kevork Marachelian, 35, of suburban LaSalle, were arraigned in Ottawa court yesterday on charges of first-degree murder in the death of security guard Claude Brunelle, 31.
