Bourdais Penalty
[edit]LOL - Clearly the race report was written by a red car fan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.103.178.228 (talk) 23:36, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- What would you like it to say? Bretonbanquet (talk) 23:39, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'd like to see the Bourdais incident re-written so that it reflects what people saw with their eyes, and not what the stewards determined happened in their crack-addled state of delusion.220.225.109.136 (talk) 08:00, 13 October 2008 (UTC)James
- I suggest you rewrite it yourself if you don't like it, but from your comment, it doesn't look like you're very impartial. I happen to agree that the penalty was unjustified and practically impossible to explain, but we can't just write what we think. As it stands, it gives the basic facts without any bias as far as I can see. It doesn't apportion blame to Bourdais, it just says he got a penalty. I'll adjust it slightly, but without decent sources, we can't realistically say that the stewards were wrong. Bretonbanquet (talk) 08:13, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've had a go. In particular I wasn't happy with the suggestion that it happened as Bourdais was leaving the pits. The incident occurred some distance from the end of the pit filter lane. The original text also had Bourdais hitting Massa, where it looked to me like it was the other way round. Perhaps this needs a neutral way of phrasing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.225.109.136 (talk) 08:27, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've adjusted it further to clarify that Bourdais had left the pits by the time the collision happened, but I've removed the part that said that Massa hit Bourdais. Regardless of what it looked like, we can't say it because there's nothing to back it up, and it creates confusion in the light of the steward's decision that it was the other way around. I had already changed it to say that the cars collided, rather than one hitting the other, and that's what I've reverted it to. It's about as neutral as we can be now, I think. Bretonbanquet (talk) 09:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's probably the best way to describe the collision. Though I think it was the stewards who created the confusion by making a decision counter to reality :) 220.225.109.136 (talk) 10:16, 13 October 2008 (UTC)James
- Well they certainly turned a non-event into a point of contention. It's not the first time, I'm willing to bet it won't be the last! Bretonbanquet (talk) 10:22, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

I'll rewrite the whole of the race section later so that it's balanced, neutral, and contains references. D.M.N. (talk) 10:26, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good, but I'd suggest that the small section on the Massa / Bourdais incident is pretty neutral as it stands. Could maybe do with a quote from Massa to balance Bourdais' though. Bretonbanquet (talk) 10:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
- I'll warn you that Massa's quotes are comedy gold, and they don't do him any favours. "Lewis 'thinks' that I hit him". "Lewis's drive through fair, mine not so sure". "Bourdais hit me as he came out of the pits. He was a little bit too optimistic on the inside and to me it was completely wrong". He's been smoking the same stuff as the stewards. LOL. 220.225.109.136 (talk) 11:02, 13 October 2008 (UTC)james
Make that Thursday afternoon.... too many edits going on right now, I'll wait until it calms down a bit. D.M.N. (talk) 16:11, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Lewis Hamilton's Nationality
[edit]Is there a reason that Hamilton's nationality is listed as Saudi Arabian in the Pole Position section of the info box on the right hand side? Vandalism perhaps? 86.24.18.120 (talk) 11:55, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- It was vandalism. I've fixed it. Thanks. DH85868993 (talk) 11:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
