This data was emailed to me by someone who knows that i edit WP, and that im interested in the U numbers and what systems are what, who got it from BoM. I thought i would place this here for others who are interested in the U's, i am not suggesting that the numbers get added in though. Despite this i think we should add Daphine in since the first Nadi TDA (note: not a TDS) placed it at 160.0E ie: Right on the border between basins.Jason Rees (talk) 00:42, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It really should be online or something, not based on email, IMO. --♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:43, 6 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pressure

[edit]

I notice Alenga's pressure is 982, but the current technical bulletin is saying 986, should it be changed? I am asking this because I am not sure why the 982 is there. atomic7732 13:09, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seasonal outlooks

[edit]

As I found out the BoM dropped to indicate how many storms likely are going to form and is giving only probabilities in percent that the season is above average. Therefor we cannot use the format of last year's table. --Matthiasb (talk) 19:21, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leave it with me I have been meaning to sort this section out.Jason Rees (talk) 19:52, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

03U

[edit]

What happened to 03U? ––Bruvtakesover (talk!) 12:38, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah... more number skipping. I'm willing to bet that it's probably in Perth's area. atomic7732 13:17, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Until we know for certain what it is and can back it up without having to resort to emails lets not give it have a section. If i had to speculate then it would be the Jakarta low thats being monitored by Perth.Jason Rees (talk) 16:20, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TC Technical Advices

[edit]

What has happened to the webcitation of the technical advices? Last season we had them this season I don't see one for TC Grant. Brudder Andrusha (talk) 23:38, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that the editor who archvied them hasnt been that active, however i have dug up http://dynasmon.fortunecity.com/Darwin.html which is where the advisories were being put.Jason Rees (talk) 00:44, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fina

[edit]

Fina was declared to be Extratropical on the 23, I changed it yesterday to aquire for this but someone changed it back? Can someone explain this if they have some info I don't. Thanks. Cartographer11 (talk) 02:28, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have you got a source for that because afaik they have been calling it a tropical low over the last few days.Jason Rees (talk) 02:34, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Found this and a couple other sites including the BOM itself, I cant seem to find some of the actual BOM data but I have this: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/hurricanes/archives/2011/h2011_Fina.html , It might help even if its an American site. Cartographer11 (talk) 17:25, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't help since an ex tropical cyclone is a tropical low, what i have done for now is put the final date active as the date it moved out of the basin since TCWC Wellington refereed to it as being frontal last night and BoM NSW are referring to it as a deep low. At some point in the new year there will be a TCR written by TCWC Brisbane.Jason Rees (talk) 17:43, 26 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, thanks for the help.Cartographer11 (talk) 02:51, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TC Grant

[edit]

Folks, any thoughts about this system getting its own page? What's the criteria? Brudder Andrusha (talk) 18:26, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jason Rees was going to write an article on the storm, but I don't know what happened. —Bruvtakesover (talk!) 18:28, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This system has produced far more impacts than probably what was expected. Just thinking that it would be more appropriate that all that stuff from Dec. 26/27 be moved. Brudder Andrusha (talk) 19:45, 27 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will try and start an article at Cyclone Grant later this afternoon.Jason Rees (talk) 15:47, 28 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Remnants

[edit]

I asked the question in the comments whether 97P was the remnants of Grant.Brudder Andrusha (talk) 23:50, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm placing a response that was given by Jason Rees on my talk page to share with all here
FYI: At time of issue, the monsoon trough extended from a monsoon low [Ex-Tropical Cyclone Grant] over eastern Cape York Peninsula into the northwestern Coral Sea. The monsoon trough is expected to contract northeast off the Queensland coast into the northern Coral Sea over the weekend. A number of low pressure centres may develop on the monsoon trough over the Coral Sea. The environment is not expected to be favourable for intensification of a low but the situation will be monitored carefully. If a deep low does develop it will move east away from the Queensland coast with no impacts expected.
As a result i wouldnt call 97P the rems of Grant yet.Jason Rees (talk) 23:32, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response. My initial query was based on what I noticed on a cyclone forum on TC Grant. Brudder Andrusha (talk) 23:50, 30 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

West and East

[edit]

For some while I observe that one or more editors confuse West and East. F.ex., During the next several hours, 17U continued moving westwards deep into the Northern Territory while maintaining its intensity. Late on March 15, 17U crossed over into Northern Queensland with the northern part of the storm emerging into the southern part of the Golf von Carpentaria. The map clearly shows the eastward movement into the NT (probably some degrees south of ESE). --Matthiasb (talk) 12:04, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Tropical Cyclone Koji–Joni heading

[edit]

I don't want to start a reversion war without discussion, but shouldn't this be either simply "Tropical Cyclone Koji" or (horrible though it looks) "Tropical Cyclone Koji (Koji–Joni)"--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 09:46, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nope - it should just be Koji-Joni since that is its official name and most prob the common one.Jason Rees (talk) 14:12, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
