Team pairings
[edit]Where is the information from, which teams will be paired to be split in a red and in a blue group? --Sayka41 (talk) 09:32, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
The pairings that were on the page were simply a lie. Dortmund and Leverkusen both are in a blue group. --Sayka41 (talk) 17:08, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
Scoreboard?
[edit]Are we treating wikipedia like a scoreboard again? This flies in the face of WP:RECENT and is pretty stupid. We should be waiting until full time and then updating the pages. There is no good reason to treat wikipedia like a scoreboard. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:08, 13 September 2011 (UTC)
- Seriously. Why don't you people just watch the matches and then update the scores after they're done? It's a waste of Wikipedia resources as well. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 17:54, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, seriously. Google usually works well as a score board, btw. --OpenFuture (talk) 07:14, 28 September 2011 (UTC)
- Not to mention, it caused some massive confusion earlier today; the CSKA Moscow-Lille game was completed, and updated in the standings, but the matchday scenarios were updated using the current standings but as if there were only 4 games played for each team, completely confusing everything. MOS issues
[edit]All of the conjunctions in the hypothetical elimination scenarios (scenaria for those who would rather use the word stadia) are all caps. Not going to try to change them, but they should not be in caps. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:08, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
Scenario for Arsenal on 19 October 2011
[edit]Arsenal will qualify for the Round of 16 if they defeat Marseille. We can check it as follows:
- If Olympiacos defeat Borussia Dortmund, the scores of four teams (Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos and Marseille) will be (10, 1, 6, 6), making Borussia Dortmund unable to surpass Arsenal. Should both Olympiacos and Marseille qualify, they need at least 4 points each. There is a match between them, so it is possible only when both win a game and draw among themselves. It gives a three-way tie if Arsenal loses to Borussia Dortmund, but they still qualify after comparing head-to-head records among the three tied teams with 9 head-to-head points, superior to both opponents with 4 head-to-head points.
- If Olympiacos draw with Borussia Dortmund, the scores of four teams (Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos and Marseille) will be (10, 2, 4, 6), making Borussia Dortmund unable to surpass Arsenal. Should both Olympiacos and Marseille qualify, Olympiacos need at least 6 points. It means Marseille must lose one of the two remaining matches and can get at most 9 points.
- If Borussia Dortmund defeat Olympiacos, the scores of four teams (Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Olympiacos and Marseille) will be (10, 4, 3, 6), making Olympiacos unable to surpass Arsenal. Should both Borussia Dortmund and Marseille qualify, Borussia Dortmund need at least 6 points. It means Marseille must lose one of the two remaining matches and can get at most 9 points. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ckhandy (talk • contribs) 22:05, 19 October 2011 (UTC)
- So add it. Personally, I think it's ridiculous and all of the scenarios should be deleted as speculative and non-encyclopaedic. --Walter Görlitz (talk) 21:57, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
