Ranking & Polls

[edit]

In the article 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season the AP Poll is used to rank teams. This is stated in every "standings" tables. So, my question is why is the Coaches' Poll used in the Article? Shouldn't the same poll be used in all articles? Rocketmaniac RT 22:00, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's for the fact that the Coaches Poll is used in calculating the BCS formula. The schedule template uses the Coaches' Poll as default, but it can be changed. However, previous articles all have the Coaches' Poll as the ranking so it should stay for consistency sake.--Crimsonedge34 (talk) 22:23, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok... Good answer. Then shouldn't we use the Coaches Poll in the main 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season article? Rocketmaniac RT 22:58, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Both polls should be used in tandem. See 2005 Michigan Wolverines football team for an example. Jweiss11 (talk) 02:41, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well then. There is a lot of work to be done. I went through all top 25 (AP Poll) teams. I think there are only 2 teams that list both. Rocketmaniac RT 02:52, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Feel like a little project?  :) Jweiss11 (talk) 04:27, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure.... Just dont want to do a bunch of work just to have it "undone" if you know what I mean. Rocketmaniac RT 06:09, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sure thing. If you run into any problems, let me know. Thanks for your efforts here. Jweiss11 (talk) 16:43, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
