Red Bulls u23

[edit]

"All United States Division I (MLS), Division II (NASL), & Division III (USL) teams qualify automatically, except teams that are majority owned by a higher-level outdoor professional league team."

Are the Red Bulls U-23's really allowed to take part in this competition?Anttipng (talk) 11:01, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes [1] Red Jay (talk) 18:27, 18 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

For a bit more clarification: the majority-owned provision applies to only the top three divisions (well, really DII and DIII since it's impossible for an MLS club to be owned by a higher-level outdoor pro team as they're already the highest level). Red Bulls U-23, like several of the other MLS-owned U-23 teams already qualified, are PDL sides, i.e. not DIII or higher. So they are not prohibited from participating via ownership restrictions. The Villages FC

[edit]

The Villages FC defeated the Charleston Battery, but they were later disqualified due to using an ineligible player. Due to the disqualification of The Villages FC, the Charleston Battery now occupy the spot occupied by The Villages FC against the Jacksonville Armada FC in the third round on June 1. A note should be added, but I don't know how to do that.
