Czech Republic

[edit]

Who the hell changed it to say "Czechia"? FFS LordAtlas (talk) 12:46, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I think it was caused after this edit. I can't revert the edit as I don't have admin rights.--User:Tomcat7 (talk) 13:02, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
'Czechia' is their official name, it is just having a hard time getting recognition. Not sure why breaking templates was the best way to make a change though, not sure where the appropriate place is to discuss it either.18abruce (talk) 14:10, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"Czech Republic" is the official name. "Czechia" may be an official short form but we neither use it nor are required to use it. This Slovakia envy is ridiculous. LordAtlas (talk) 23:06, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just because its the official name doesn't mean it takes priority, otherwise we'd refer to the Russian Federation and Slovak Republic, among others. That said I agree with keeping it as Czech Republic, as the IIHF (among most everyone else) uses that term. That said, I don't think this has anything to do with any "Slovakia envy," whatever that may refer to. Kaiser matias (talk) 00:37, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
