- ... that the 2021–22 UConn Huskies women's basketball team's Hall of Famers Geno Auriemma and Chris Dailey are in their 37th season of coaching together? Source: "For me, it was Chris Dailey. And 37 years later, we're still together.", "He gave credit to his assistants too: associate head coach Chris Dailey, who has been with him since he started at UConn in 1985"

- Comment: I'd like this hook to run on October 16, simultaneous to the school's all-student First Night activities to open their season. BusterD (talk) 15:16, 2 October 2021 (UTC)

General: Article is new enough and long enough |
---|
Policy compliance:
- Adequate sourcing: - Prose in "roster" section is unsourced.
- Neutral:
- Free of copyright violations, plagiarism, and close paraphrasing:
Hook eligibility:
- Cited:
- Interesting:
- Other problems: - I think "Hall of Famers" could be de-linked, so that we can avoid having two links next to each other.
QPQ: Done. |
Overall: Article is new/long enough, Earwig doesn't have anything, just a minor sourcing issue and potential hook improvement. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 02:05, 6 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the speedy review. I'll address these concerns in the next 24 hours. Appreciate your help! BusterD (talk) 02:23, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- A passerby cleaned up my poor citation, I've added the appropriate cites, "Hall of Famers" has been delinked (I hate the colloquialism but like the sportzwriter impact). Would be open to a better phrased ALT if you suggest. BusterD (talk) 17:24, 7 October 2021 (UTC) Have asked for an extra set of eyes for another ALT.
Hold up before acceptance. BusterD (talk) 17:35, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- I've been asked to share some ALT suggestions—Obviously, there's not so much to work with, given that the season hasn't started, but I'll give it my best shot!
- ALT1: ... that the assistant coach for the 2021–22 UConn Huskies women's basketball team, Chris Dailey, is one of only two assistant coaches to be inducted into the Hall of Fame?
- I'll go off-script a little, and deviate from the coaches:
- ALT2: ... that Evina Westbrook turned down a spot in the Women's National Basketball Association draft to play in the 2021–22 UConn Huskies women's basketball team? do let me know if this one's inaccurate
- ALT3: ... that the 2021–22 UConn Huskies women's basketball team graduated no seniors at the end of last season?
- Of these, my preference is for ALT2, although none are spectacular. And as a drive-by comment, "lady Huskies", unless that's a common name, seems kind of pejorative? I'd recommend that those words not be said in Wikipedia's voice at least. Thanks for the request! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/them) 17:49, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Quite right on lady huskies; have changed. Your alt 2 might be my hook when I write Evina's page later this month. Your alt 1 might be my hook when I do a 5x expansion on CD's page in November.
I think I'll take my ALT0a.(I wish to keep this hook content away from individual players and towards the team. If I could make this hook about the graduate assistants or the equipment managers I would.) Thanks for the look. BusterD (talk) 18:09, 7 October 2021 (UTC)- Fair enough—good luck on the nom! theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/them) 18:18, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your kind attention. It appears this is ready for final review. BusterD (talk) 19:01, 7 October 2021 (UTC)
- @BusterD: no pressure at all, but if you want to punchify ALT0 a bit, you could go with:
- ALT0b: ... that women's basketball Hall of Famers Chris Dailey and Geno Auriemma are in their 37th season of coaching the UConn Huskies together?
- totally up to you. theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/them) 21:02, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

- Going with hook ALT0b suggested above. BusterD (talk) 21:32, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- PCN02WPS, i think it'd be up to you to finish up the review. no rush theleekycauldron (talk • contribs) (they/them) 22:32, 8 October 2021 (UTC)
- Sources have been added so this one looks good to go. Giving the tick with preference for ALT0b per the nominator. PCN02WPS (talk | contribs) 06:23, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
