POV issues

We can't state Israel's POV in wikivoice. That Israel targeted military facilities is its POV and should be stated with attribution. NPR quotes the Houthis as saying Israel targeted "civilian facilities, oil tanks and the electrical power station in the city of Hodeidah". Was the attack on "Yemen" or a "Houthi faction" that is actually in rebellion against Yemen

In ordinary Wikiprose, a country name typically refers to a government of the country. Was this attack on the "country of Yemen" when we say in wikivoice that it was an attack on Yemen? Or was it an attack on a particular faction, that carries considerable political authority in a part of the geography of what is inside the country border of Yemen, and is actually in rebellion against another major? faction of the government of Yemen?

Either way, we should clarify that in the article title, as "strikes on Yemen" leaves it entirely unclear as to what entity was attacked. N2e (talk) 21:16, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the attack was on the Houthis, who in the area that was struck are the de facto government of Yemen. Either way, the attacks fell inside the geographic boundaries of the country of Yemen, so the strikes were on Yemen (and the Houthis). Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 21:19, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Samad 3

The article describes the Samad 3 drone as “Iranian made.” There is no good sourcing on who makes the drone, with some claiming it is produced in Yemen. As this article is not the place to resolve this issue and the manufacturer of the drone is not the most relevant information, it might be best to not include language to this effect at all. 66.44.35.197 (talk) 23:36, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV issue

This entire article is written from the Israeli POV and is clearly pro-Israel, and reads more like a press briefing of the Israeli government than a Wikipedia article. This edit made the lead POV. It was completely unjustified to remove views that were contrary to Israel's official position and to state Israel's position as a fact. This has also been corroboration by the World Food Programme [1] who confirmed the Israeli attack damaged its equipment and destroyed the fuel it was going to use. An AlJazeera article[2] writes that even the Saudis were persuaded against attacking Hodeidah because of the civilian impact it would have. It also quotes three different sources (Nick Brumfield of the FPRI, Joyce Msuya and Raiman Al-Hamdania fellow at European Council on Foreign Relations) all underscoring the civilian importance of the port Israel targeted. Finally, Mustafa Nasr, the chairman of the Studies and Economic Media Center, adds that the fuel destroyed was "owned by the YPC [Yemen Petroleum Company] or independent businesspeople renting space in the tanks".VR _{(Please ping on reply)} 12:15, 30 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Naming

@Elli, you proposed "2024 Houthi drone attack on Israel" as a name here. Should this article title also use the word "attack" as opposed to "strikes"? Or should that article use the term "drone strike" as opposed to "drone attack"? WP:CONSISTENCY is important.VR _{(Please ping on reply)} 00:35, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have much of an opinion either way; the only thing I really care about there is renaming from "Yemeni" to "Houthi". No opposition to switching this article to "attack" or that article to "strike", though that article shouldn't be moved during the RM. Elli (talk | contribs) 00:40, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Casualties

Unfortunately, that cited source does not provide the identities of those killed. However, I found a Sky News Arabia article that states the death toll rose to 14, with 12 of them being YPC employees, along with over 90 injured and 6 missing.[3] Skitash (talk) 10:39, 4 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Vice regent, the mentioned website does not explicitly state that the mentioned file is released under a free license, making it unusable for the purpose of uploading to Wikipedia. I can see the SABA logo which probably means they are the creator and or the copyright holder. Some websites may publish their works under a free license compatible with the project upon request by the users. Also, you may try searching in Fars News, Tasnim News and Mehr News agencies which all offer Creative Commons licenses only for the works created by them. --Mhhossein ^talk 13:46, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
