Review skews the piece…

[edit]

The bulk of the article is given over to one, very negative review - was the reception really so bad? It is a movie which I have heard compared favourably to the works of Hitchcock, and it still plays frequently on TV (certainly in the U.K.), where I have watched it and found it reasonably engaging. The Film4 website rate it as three out of five stars, and the viewer voting gives it four out of five stars (admittedly only on 19 responses). It may not be the world’s greatest picture, but I think that such a lengthy extract of a single person’s response (which is effectively original research on that single critic’s part) to the film slants the whole article. If it really was so badly received, I think there needs to be further corroboration, or examples of other opinion (they could be equally bad, I’m not suggesting a white-wash, but something that shows this was a prevailing opinion). Crowther hates a whole lot of films ... will look for other review .... Luigibob (talk) 02:59, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That was then, this is now - has not anyone found a more positive review? Perhaps not the greatest of films, was it really that bad? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.29.103.52 (talk) 16:49, 1 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
