[edit]Re: Uniform of Pennsylvania 83rd. The etching / drawing of the uniform shown is from Samuel Penniman Bates' history of the Pennsylvania 83rd. It might be noted, they won that French-style uniform with the red-sash by winning a Regimental review (in DC) while camped in defense of the nation on Lee's Plantation in Arlington. The uniforms, Bates notes, were packed away into boxes and stored in a warehouse in Georgetown. The Pennsylvania 82rd, when mobilization in Mar 1862, had a standard Union Blue uniform for deployment.
