The movie failed at the box office because the public at large are not idiots. I've just watched this 1935 version and it was hair tearing dreadfull. I had to take a paracetamol tablet afterwards because of the head ache from concentrating so hard trying to follow the so called "fun" plot. I've seen pigs trying to fly more convincingly...
