[edit]The suggestion that Oxford graduates have the bible placed on their heads is, I believe, incorrect. The book is the rules and regulations of the university (I attended one yesterday, and I'm sure that's what we were told...) 87.113.7.224 (talk) 22:52, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Inclusion of Ireland
[edit]This article was recently edited to include Ireland in its scope. I'm unsure whether this is a good idea, especially given the history between the two countries. Generally, for article series like this, each country gets its on article if there's enough content. Antony–22 (talk⁄contribs) 19:42, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Suggestion that the Pileus is common at the University of Sussex
[edit]https://www.sussex.ac.uk/webteam/gateway/file.php?name=regulation27.pdf&site=76
From what I can see only Honorary Doctorates wear the Pileus at the graduation ceremony at Sussex. A mortarboard (Bachelors or Masters) or Black tudor bonnet (D.Phil) are more common.
Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Education and Doctor of Social Work Full Dress Gown: traditional Doctors style in scarlet panama wool with facings of, and sleeves lined in blue. Hood: scarlet panama wool outer self lined and cowl edge bound in blue satin Hat: a black cloth Tudor bonnet with cord and tassels in scarlet
Honorary Doctorate Full Dress Gown: a panama wool gown, of exactly the same shape as the Masters gown but whole to be gamboge in colour, and instead of a cut away collar to have a collar high and upstanding at the back coming down to join the facings in the front. On the right shoulder the award differentiated by coloured shoulder ribbons in accordance with the following colour scheme
Hat: a black velvet pileus hat with the button on the pileus to be gamboge in colour. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.44.8.83 (talk) 18:12, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
