Mawlay Ahmad of sharifid dynasty?

[edit]

Was he also called Mawlay Ahmad and was his dynasty called the sharifids? I read about Morocco and this name was used about the ruler in this period. It seems like it must be him, as the years are the same and also things he did. --Oddeivind (talk) 09:56, 14 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Moving article

[edit]

Hi Simoooix.haddi, your move ([1]) is completely unnecessary here, see WP:CONCISE. Making it "of Morocco" doesn't add anything necessary to the title. The only place where you see such additions to titles of article about rulers is when there's multiple possible rulers with the same name but from different areas/periods. Ahmad al-Mansur is very distinct and clear on its own. (For example, there's Muhammad V of Granada because "Muhammad V" isn't distinct enough, but Abd al-Rahman III doesn't include "of Cordoba" since there isn't another significant ruler by that name, so there's no ambiguity.)

Also, please don't move any articles without initiating a discussion on the talk page first (see WP:RM), unless it's fixing something obvious and minor like a typo. R Prazeres (talk) 17:34, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry i didn't explain my move. In fact i've just discovered that there is an article named Ahmed Mansour and thought i should move it to "Ahmad Al-Mansur of Morocco" so we avoid disambiguation. Anyway thank you for your explanation. Simoooix.haddi (talk) 17:45, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Since the other article is Ahmed Subhy Mansour, the names are easily disambiguated. As a side-note, we could question whether "Ahmed Mansour", which is currently a redirect to that page, should instead direct to a disambiguation page which lists multiple other people with similar names. But in any case, the name of this article here is on solid ground. R Prazeres (talk) 17:50, 30 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
